𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐢𝐝 had never met anyone like her.Achlys Amor.
Even her name was entrancing. The way it rolled off his tongue and pushed through his lips already felt natural to him, like it was a name he had known his whole life. Their parting replayed in his mind, the image of her walking away from him, then turning back and waving delicately as her smile enveloped her face, buried itself in the softest, most vulnerable parts of his mind and just stayed there, unbothered and undisturbed. Like he'd said, it all felt so natural.
His words to her echoed around his head; a sudden feeling of panic washed over him as he feared he had been rude to her. Thankfully, Spencer had an eidetic memory.
"I - I don't really know how to do this."
She laughed. It was like the sound of it dissolved straight into the air itself; it hung around them long after the sound had dissipated.
"I can tell. Unfortunately, I have a job to go to, I'm assuming you do too?"
Spencer nodded. "Yes. There, in fact." He pointed behind him to the Academy building. "But it's not so unfortunate, I like it. Quite a lot actually."
Her face lit up in surprise and wonder, as ones always does when Spencer tells someone of his profession. "You're - you work in - in there? Spencer, are you actually, kind of...cool?"
They both laughed at her sarcasm. He knew who he was and the first impression he gave.
Spencer Reid didn't have friends, not really; he wasn't approached by strangers across a bar or invited into conversations unprompted, he was alone but he was never lonely. Apart from the other members of the BAU, he didn't really have anyone."I know, I don't look like it. But maybe...I don't know, maybe I could tell you about it over - over dinner?"
His heart was in his mouth. He felt sick. Was this normal? Was this part supposed to make you feel weak at the knees?
Achlys' lips tightened into a confident, tempting smile. "Here I was thinking you'd never ask. I would love that."
And as though his boss had heard him, Spencer's phone started ringing. "I'm sorry. I really need to go..."
Achlys smiled. She did that a lot, Spencer had noticed - not that he cared; her smile was intoxicating. "Of course, me too. I better see you soon, Spencer Reid."
Spencer couldn't wipe the smile off of his face as he emerged cheerfully out of the elevator. His hand cupped the piece of paper in his pocket, he had yet to remove his hand but neither had he actually opened it.
These things didn't happen to Spencer. He had never felt special before, not like this. He had never felt desired.
"What's got you smiling all big this morning, pretty boy?"
