Honest Guilt

Reading lines that don't exist.
Wondering what happened, but can't insist.

I wish you'd tell me what you saw,
But I know it might be against some law.

I have the ears if you ever have a complaint;
I'll do my best to respond with restraint.

I'll never know if I'm actually seen,
Just know I never meant to be mean.

I see you everywhere and get reminded,
I wish it would stop, but I'd end up blinded.

I don't know where this'll go. Every time you ask, I keep saying no; the upsetting feelings will continue to grow. I wonder why, but I'll never know.

The world won't burn if you ever find out,
The way I feel, or the reason I doubt.

I'm stuck between the two realities you might have found, I tried to bury them deep within the ground.
The expectation of the bar,
Or the intention of keeping the distance pretty far.

I wish there was something else to say. I truly regret what I had done that day.
