It had been a long day first day back at the hospital, but Carina had felt good being back in her element.  She was finishing up some paperwork when the floor intercoms crackled to life.
"Doctor Deluca please report to the ER. Doctor Deluca to the ER please."
Carina grabbed her tablet and phone and headed out of her office and down to the emergency room.  The doors slid open and she could see a flurry of activity as Sullivan and Ben were each wheeling in a gurney surrounded by the on duty teams.  Each bed had a pregnant woman on it and Carina dropped her tablet and phone on the nurses station desk as she grabbed a gown and gloves.
"What do we have?"
"Both women were leaving a lamas class when they were hit head on by a drunk driver.  Both approximately seven month pregnant.  We briefly  lost this one en route but got her back pretty quick and she's stable now.  The other one was conscious until we pulled up."
"Ok, let's monitor her and I want to go right in and start on this mama to be.  Come on people, move!"
Carina disappeared through the OR doors as Sully and Warren watched her in her element.
"I'm going to go see if I can find Miranda. You mind waiting a minute?"
"Sure, everything ok?"
"Yeah, I just was curious how Carina liked her surprise.  Maya had texted me and asked if I could deliver a present she had in her locker and pick up flowers from the gift shop and get them into Carina's office before she came back to work today."
"Bishop's a softie, even when she's flipping out over taking hormone shots."
"Yeah, she's got it bad for her wife.  Speaking of, when are you and the chief going to make it official?  I mean, I haven't performed a wedding since the Deluca-Bishop's sooooo..."
"Tash hasn't decided just yet and I'm not going to push.  But don't worry, I've got you in my back pocket Warren."
The men pounded fists before Ben wandered off to find his wife.  Sullivan pulled his phone out of his jacket, texted Natasha and smiled when she sent back a heart emoji.

Maya exhaled loudly as Carina's phone went to voicemail again. She had expected her wife home a few hours ago and Maya hadn't been able to reach her. Tapping her phone on the table, Maya looked over at Liam who was staring at her from his bassinet rocker.
"Well, I guess it's my payback for how mama hasn't been able to reach me on the phone lately."
Liam smiled, raspberried Maya and kicked his legs.
"Ok, ok...come on, let's get you some dinner and then get you ready for bed. Mama is just going to have to miss night nite kisses from both of us."

Maya kissed her sleeping son and laid him in his crib. Checking the baby monitor, she switched on the fire truck night light and closed the door to his room. Heading into the kitchen, Maya grabbed her phone off the table and tried calling Carina again. The voicemail message clicked on so Maya took a deep breath before the beep.
"Hey babe, it's me-again. I just put Liam down for the night and I'm wondering where you are. Give me a call please. I love you."
Maya pushed the end button and began cleaning up. Fixing a plate, she grabbed a post-it note and wrote 'XO 🤍' before sticking it in the fridge. Leaving her phone on the counter, she picked up the baby monitor receiver, opened the slider, placed the receiver on the picnic table and started a light workout as the sun set.

Maya had pushed herself a bit too hard in the last ten minutes of her workout so the hot water from the shower felt good on her muscles. Stepping out, she grabbed her towel and dried off before reaching for her robe and tying it around herself. Maya padded down to Liam's room and peeked quietly in before going to check the back slider to make sure it was locked. Carina still hadn't replied to her calls or texts and Maya was getting frustrated now. Pulling up Miranda's number, Maya hit 'SEND' but noticed the time and quickly ended the call before the first ring. She typed in 'Grey-Sloan' and followed the prompts to the OB department extension. The phone rang several times before she heard the click of it switching to the main reception desk.
"Good evening Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital, this is Anita. How may I direct your call?"
"Hi Anita, I'm trying to reach Doctor Carina Deluca in OB but she isn't answering her direct line. Can you have her paged please?"
"Hold a moment...ahh, I see here that Doctor Deluca is currently listed in surgery in the ER. I can take a message and have the nurse on duty give it to her when she's available."
"Can you just ask them to have her call her wife?"
"Of course I can do that for you Mrs Deluca. Thanks for calling, goodnight."
The phone went silent and Maya found herself smiling and chuckling as she made her way back to the bedroom. She plugged her phone in and laid down next to the baby monitor and rubbed her right hip gently. As she was drifting off to sleep she laughed quietly to herself, 'that's Mrs DOCTOR Deluca'.

Carina pulled into her driveway, turned off her car and leaned her head forward onto the steering wheel. She was exhausted from the marathon she'd just run in the hospital. After dealing with the two moms, she had gotten slammed with back to back to back deliveries. When she finally had finished, she went straight to her office, took off her white coat, put on her jacket and headed to the parking garage. She was nearly to her car when she realized she didn't have her phone and had to go all the way back to the ER to retrieve it. She had run into Doctor Beltran who was going over the charts and had talked Carina's ear off all the way back to her car. Carina had driven home with a slight headache and felt her stomach rumbling as she grabbed her phone and bag, double checked that she locked the car door and headed inside her darkened home. She didn't notice the car parked across the street or the fact that Willy and Dom were watching.
Carina locked the front door, peeled off her coat and put her bag on the floor as she kicked her shoes off. Heading into the kitchen she opened the fridge and smiled when she saw Maya's note on the dinner plate. Lifting up the foil, Carina grabbed a piece of chicken parm, closed the foil back down and shut the fridge. She munched on it as she made her way to Liam's room and peeked in. Pressing her finger to her lips, she tenderly placed it on her son's head before leaving and heading to her bedroom. Maya was sound asleep, her robe had come loose leaving her breasts partially exposed. Carina leaned against the doorway and absentmindedly finished eating her dinner as she stared at Maya. They hadn't been intimate since that morning before the fire and Carina was aching to have sex. But she needed to make sure Maya was healed enough and Carina had made a promise to hold out until the all clear for light duty was given. Maya had been dropping non-subtle hints since her hospital stay and Carina struggled to maintain her resolve.
Shaking her head, Carina tried in vain to dispel the lustful thoughts about her wife as she quietly shut the bathroom door and started the shower. After a quick wash and rinse Carina stepped out and toweled off. She brushed her teeth, opened the door and turned off the light. Moving to the dresser, Carina grabbed a cami and some sleep shorts, slipping them on and carefully sliding into bed. She nuzzled up to Maya and slid her hand inside her wife's robe, resting her fingers against Maya's nipple and pressing her face into Maya's neck where she quickly fell asleep. Maya stirred, moaned slightly at feeling Carina's breath on her skin and wrapped her arms around her wife without saying a word.
