"Maya? Maya? Wake up."
Maya sleepily opened her eyes to see Carina standing over her, fully dressed.
"Wh-what's going on?"
"I just got a call from Sandra, Ana went into labor and I have to go to the hospital. Can you please bring Liam when you leave for work?"
Maya sat up and rubbed her eyes and yawned as Carina walked into their bathroom.
"Yeah, of course. I didn't even hear your phone go off."
"I'm not surprised Bella, you have been slightly overdoing it since you started back to fighting fires again. It's been a week now and I've barely seen you since your birthday dinner."
"I'm just trying to get back into the groove. You've been busy too though you know. I feel like we keep passing each other and only stopping when it has to do with Liam."
"I know amore mio, but it's not going to be like this forever, just for right now."
Maya stood up and stretched as Carina came back into the bedroom and grabbed her shoes. She sat on the edge of the bed as Maya came around to face her.
"Shouldn't we have an answer about the embryo by now?"
"Actually I should find out today. I submitted my blood gas panel yesterday before I left."
Carina stood up and Maya smiled as she took her wife's face in her hands and kissed her.
"I can't wait to hear the good news."
"Ahh ahh ahh Maya! I told you, don't be so anxious."
"Ok ok...but can I be a little excited?"
Carina stared at Maya for a second before smiling.
"Forse in po' eccitato, but that's it! Capire?"
"Your wish is my command Doctor Deluca."
Maya smiled and pulled Carina close and kissed her deeply. She felt Carina slightly melt into her and return the kiss in kind before stiffening up again and pulling away.
"Ok, I go. I love you ."
"I love you. Be safe."

"You're sure nobody saw you?"
"Yeah I'm sure. We booked ass outta there. I'm just pissed that I didn't get the chance to kick that bitch's ass."
"What the fuck happened?"
"Ana and that dyke were out on a walk up in the trails in the forest. We were watching them and I was about to grab her when she started screaming and grabbing her stomach. I'm pretty sure she was in labor or some shit."
"Yeah well, now you all better lay low for a beat. If anybody saw you smoking out there they'll pin this fucking wildfire on your asses."
Mo looked at Dom, Willy and Mason and shook his head. He was pissed at himself for letting them talk him into following Dom's ex and agreeing that they could take her and leave a massive hurt on her girlfriend. But when the news broke that a wildfire had spread as Morris was talking to Dom, who had called and told him that his cigarette had fallen into the brush they were hiding behind, he went from being mildly irritated to bordering on panic. If it got traced back to his gang, Morris knew Detective Lord was gunning to jam him up.

Carina sipped her coffee as she walked into her office. She had delivered Ana's baby girl and then had been called in to emergency surgery so she hadn't been able to check her phone or even see Maya when she brought Liam to the daycare. She had heard about a wildfire that had begun to spread outside the city and wanted to check the SFD tracking app to get any updates and make sure Maya and Station 19 hadn't been called in yet. There was a voicemail from Maya and a text from Peggy and Dayna. Carina opened that first and saw a selfie of her friends holding Liam with a message that read, 'we are so happy to be able to help!' Carina lifted an eyebrow and clicked on her voicemail.
"Hey babe, when I went to drop Liam they told me that they were closing daycare because this fire is rocketing out of control and they wanted the space if needed. I called Peggy and Dayna and they were super excited so I dropped him off there with extra stuff just in case. I'll call you when I can. I love you. Be safe."
Carina finished her coffee, dropped the cup in the trash and went to find Doctor Bailey to see if there was anything she could do to help.
