geography wasn't as bad as i thought it would be. arden and michael made it bearable by cracking jokes at the most inappropriate times and constantly mimicking mr watson's accent.

the bell rung, and all the students in the classroom literally jumped out of their seats, and set on their way to their next class. checking my timetable once again, i see that i have maths, my least favourite subject. and to make it worse, i have it double period.

oh, the joy.

"hey, do either of you have maths next?" i ask my newly found friends.

"sorry wave," michael started, using the nickname that was quickly appointed to me, because waverly was 'too many syllables,' "arden and myself have gym. you're on your own buddy. have fun mingling!" he finishes, and before i could have a chance to reply, mikey grabbed arden's hand and sprinted out the classroom.

i let out a groan, realising i have to talk to yet more strangers.

i check my timetable again, and it says maths is in l28, which i guess is just next door. i waltz into the classroom, and scan the room for an empty desk group. i spot an empty two person desk at the back of the class, so i shuffle into the seat closest to the wall.

the bell rings, and the last of the students come filing through the doors, with a look of dread on their faces. i can relate.

suddenly, i feel a presence beside me, and i turn my head to see a boy with perfectly quiffed blonde hair, and a black lip ring. he smiles at me, showing deep dimples in his cheeks.

"hey, i'm luke." he says

"i'm waverly." i reply simply, a little smile playing on my lips.

"i know." he replies quickly. after he processed what he just said, his eyes grew wide, and he shook his head from side to side quickly. "oh, i didn't mean it like that, i mean, um, my friend arden text me saying you were in my class." he stutters out, and scratches the back of his neck.

a giggle escapes my lips, and i tell him "don't worry about it."

luke opens his mouth to say something, but the teacher cuts him off.

"good morning class. simmer down, now. anyway, today we're starting a new topic, of trigonometry!" he announces like it's the best thing in the world. the class collectively lets out a groan. "oh, don't be like that! take a test and pass it back, you will have the rest of class time to finish it. no talking. you may start."

as soon as i got a sheet, i quickly skimmed over the questions, seeing how difficult this was going to be. about twenty five minutes later, i put my pencil down, happy with my answers. i look around at the rest of the class, and see that they are still not even half way through, but i don't think much of it.

i turn my head, and i'm surprised to see that luke has just finished the test. he meets my eyes, and sends me a small smile, which i return. he then rips a piece of paper out of his book, and starts writing on it. when he's finished, he passes it to me.

you must be pretty good at maths to finish before me :-)

in which, i reply with cocky, aren't we?

as soon as i pass it back to him, he lets out a low chuckle, and scribbles a reply
