As I walk up the never ending, spiral staircase of the Ravenclaw tower, I focus my gaze on the two sets of tight bottoms in front of me.
My two soul mates, Sebastian Sallow and Ominis Gaunt.
It's been two years since the three of us formed our "little family" so to speak, and a lot has gone on since then.
After I made the necessary decision to keep the ancient magic contained inside the repository, my friendship with Sebastian became even more complicated than it already was. After I won the battle against Ranrok and his loyalists, Sebastian found me sprawled across Professor Fig's dying body. He cradled me in his arms as I bawled my eyes out, turning his school robes into a sopping mess.
Even though I went through so many hardships that year, I knew Sebastian only had one thing on his mind at the time, and that was:
"Why didn't you open that damn repository?"
He tried to hide his resentment, and he did.
For awhile.
Until Anne's curse got worse. He didn't realize how terminal her illness had became until she finally agreed to see him months after Solomon's passing.
Six months after the battle, Anne passed away peacefully in their family home in Feldcroft. She refused to go to the hospital, Anne said that she wanted her last moments of this world to be filled with memories of her and Sebastian playing gob-stones on the kitchen floor. Sebastian only wanted to see her happy for one last time, after so much pain. So he reluctantly agreed.
In Year Six, Ominis and I barely saw Sebastian. He went completely off the rails, it was a miracle when we were lucky enough to witness him sober. He barely spoke to me and when he did, he continually reminded me that I broke my promise to help save his sister. Needless to say, after his prolonged grieving, time managed to heal his wounds.
Or maybe it wasn't time that did it.
We became his number one support system. We did everything to make him feel like he had a family, like he had a home. We used a great deal of transfiguration to turn the battered, old Undercroft into a cozy flat that resembles the Slytherin common room. We had flavoured beans supplied to us by the case full.
Our cocky, arrogant, and loving Slytherin eventually came back to the surface for some air.
As for Ominis, well... the time that Sebastian spent ignoring me for the better half of the year, his best friend made up for it.
To help heal my own traumas, it was never ending trips to The Three Broomsticks and long walks by the Black Lake. He started depending on me to become his visual aid, rather than Sebastian. Ominis and I have never been closer.
That brings us to present day, Year 7. Despite feeling like I lived a life time over the past two years, the three of us have grown into young adults quickly. My juvenile companions are long gone. Instead, they've graciously been replaced with two, fully developed young men.
Of course they're easy on the eyes. I'm a woman, not blind like some people we know... but that doesn't matter.
On one drunken evening in the Undercroft, I told them that any romantic relationship between the three of us would never work. One would always be jealous of the other and our friendship would meet its demise. From that night, the three of us agreed that we would only engage in a platonic relationship. Although, sometimes Sebastian likes to test the waters with that one.
Our relationship has never felt stronger, there's only one pressing matter that bothers me...
One evening when I was cleaning the Undercroft, I was sweeping under our king sized bed that the three of us share. The broom caught an object that was stuffed under the bed. I swept it out and found an old book named Secrets of the Darkest Arts.
I thought we were finished with the dark magic shit after Sebastian taught me how to cast all three unforgivable curses. Apparently I was wrong.
Ominis will be floored.
"Why couldn't we have just used a fucking floo flame to get there? All these stairs are going to send me into cardiac arrest." Ominis huffs.
I grip the wrought iron railing tightly in anticipation, knowing that we are almost at the top of the landing.
"Where's the fun in that? Besides, isn't the whole point of sneaking out past curfew to actually, you know... sneak about?" Sebastian replies playfully.
Ominis rolls his unseeing eyes. "Why are we even entertaining this party? If I know anything about Puffskein Dunkein, it's that he's a complete and utter pillock. I doubt he even knows how to spell the word party, much less be able to throw a successful one."
"Come on, Ominis. Don't be so drab... we'll scope out the scene and leave if it's absolutely pitiful. How's that?" Sebastian replies while turning his head, shooting me a playful wink.
Ominis groans as a response.
We reach the top floor of the Ravenclaw tower where we can already hear the faint sound of musical vibrations. I use my wand and spin the globe for old times sake before walking up the ten extra steps, revealing the large, arched door. The entrance to the Ravenclaw common room displayed a bronze knocker in the shape of an eagle.
We stand in unison for a few seconds anticipating the riddle that we will be given in exchange for entry. The bronze eagle finally opens its beak and squawks:
"What can you hold in your right hand, but never in your left hand?"
"My cock." Sebastian says confidently.
"What in Merlin's name kind of answer is that, Sebastian?" Ominis snaps.
"What can I say...I'm a righty." Sebastian smiles while sticking his hand up to show his wiggling fingers.
Ominis clears his throat. "The correct answer is, your left hand."
The eagle folds its wings in and the door makes a loud unlocking sound. The Ravenclaw common room door slowly swings open.
"I'm glad we can count on you for not leaving us to loiter in this corridor. Great work buddy." Sebastian gives Ominis a friendly pat on the shoulder before stepping into the deep blue bird's nest.
