"It's been a whole month since they've been missing."
Rosemary's dad was talking one on one with Asher's parents to deliver the news. He had already told Asher's dad, who said nothing..as always. And now, he was giving the news to Asher's mom, who seemed to grow to hate him even more as time went on.
"Oh. Great. It's been one month and all we've done was sit here and do nothing!"
"No, no..we've deciphered Rosemary's notebook! That's an achievement."
"Reading it did nothing to help us! We have to try something else! You have to have some sort of plan in that..big old brain of yours!"
"I-I know you're upset..but.."
"UPSETTT? Yeah! I'm a little upset! My son has been missing for one..whole month! How long will he be stuck there until we figure something out?"
Suddenly, there was a knock at the door.
"Hold on." Rosemary's dad stood up, and walked towards the door. He was prepared for it to be another journalist or paparazzi, but instead..it was a high school kid who had blonde hair and a whole lot of pimples.
"Hi, sir! I-I'm like your...biggest fan!"
"Really..."
"Yeah! It's so nice to..uh..finally meet you. My name is Vincent. Vincent McCoy." He smiled.
"What do you want." Rosemary's dad exited his house, and started walking to his mailbox.
"I just wanted to show you something! See, I want to invent something that'll change the world..just like you! So..I have some blueprints here.."
He looked through a bag and got out a bunch of papers.
"Look at 'em!"
Rosemary's dad glanced at them. "These are..drones. Those have already been made."
"Yeahhhh...but..my drones are different. They'll be able to deliver anything! A pizza, your mail, ANYTHING!"
"Ok..." Rosemary's dad wasn't really paying attention, as he saw a big yellow file and a letter in his mailbox.
"Now what is this...?" He thought.
He looked at the name on the bottom of the letter..
"From, Devon."
This seemed important. Rosemary's dad had to read it.
"Dear weird science dude, I tried keeping this a secret for a long time but-""Mr. Ludenberg! Do you like my blueprints? I can show you more! I'm thinking of calling my company..Dronetech. Doesn't that sound...futuristic?" said Vincent.
Rosemary's dad sighed in frustration. "Can't you see I'm reading something?"
"Right. Ok! I'll let you..do your thing."
Back to the letter..
"I tried keeping this a secret for a long time, but I just felt so bad not telling you this. There are some pages in Rosemary's notebook I didn't read. I thought these pages would make you sad, so that's why I didn't read them. In that yellow file are the pages I haven't read, with the translations. I hope you're not mad."
Rosemary's dad took out the pages from the file. There were only three, but all of them probably had some sort of clue...or answer..."Hey! I can help with...whatever your doing!" Vincent said.
"No. There's no need."
Rosemary's dad quickly read through all the pages, and all of them basically said the same thing; "I hate my dad."
"Wha...."
"Ooh. That doesn't sound good." Vincent said with a smirk.
"Why does Rosemary hate me? What did I do..?" Devon was right, these pages did make Mr. Ludenberg feel..stressed.
"Maybe because you're always at those interviews and that you leave her home alone all the time." Vincent said.
Rosemary's dad wasn't listening. He put the pages back in the yellow file, his hands shaking.
"Didn't you say you needed help with bringing Rosemary back? Or is that just a rumor on the News...?" Vincent asked.
"Yes. I need help. But..I don't think I'm gonna get it from you. No offense."
"But..I've studied your blueprints from front to back! I know how to work it...! And..I have a theory as to why it's malfunctioning!"
"You're just a kid. You don't know anything."
"I do know things! I know..that the machine is probably missing the Helical gear, which doesn't just..fall off on its own. Someone would've had to take it off on purpose!"
"You are crazy. The Helical gear is extremely small, it could probably fall off on its own."
"Helical gears have extremely strong thrust bearings! There's no way it could just...slip off!"
"Well..maybe I just installed the wrong thrust bearings..."
"No. You didn't."
