March 29th, 1970

From inside the machine, Rosemary and Asher could hear the drumming of rain coming from outside.
Asher was awkwardly looking away from Rosemary, she knew he was still thinking about that stupid cheek kiss..
The machine door opened, cold rain immediately splattered their faces.
"This machine really needs an umbrella..." Asher said.
"My dad thought of that...but he realized there was no room."
They stepped out into the rain, Asher shielding his head with his hands.
"There's shelter over there." Asher pointed to a small farm nearby.
Rosemary nodded, and they turned left towards the farm..
"Wet socks....WET SOCKS..." Rosemary thought.

"Heh..listen..I sound like SpongeBob when I walk." Asher took a step, which made a small squeaking noise.
"Oh..yeah! You do!"
Asher then changed the subject quick. "Hey..no need to rush but..we promised to try and fix the time machine.."
"Oh..! I sort of forgot about that..sorry. Got caught up in a lot. We can try to fix it once it stops raining." Rosemary said.
"Ok..cool."
They finally reached the farm, quickly running under the roof to stay dry. Asher shook all the water off like he was a dog, and Rosemary removed her soaked socks.
"Barrrfff..." Rosemary cringed, looking at just how soaked the socks were.
Rosemary then jumped about ten feet when she heard the farm door burst open from behind them.
A woman stepped out, holding a pistol with her hands shaking.
"You...stay away from her!" The woman yelled to Asher.
"Huh?"
"Stay away from her! Go back to your side..."
"What are you talking about?"
The woman shoved Asher aside, standing in front of Rosemary.
"It's ok. You're safe now!" She said to Rosemary.
"She's my friend!"
"Yeah..that's what they ALLL say." she rolled her eyes, turning to Rosemary. "Blink twice if you need help."
"I don't need help!"
"Oh. You must have Stockholm Syndrome or something. Listen..this guy is dangerous."
"Dangerous? I don't even have any weapons on me.." Asher said.
"You stay away before I throw some Agent Orange all over your disgusting face.."
"Please..explain why you think I'm dangerous in any sort of way."
"You know why. Don't act dumb. You Vietnamese always act sooo smart..."
"..Oh. I see.."
"Now go back to your side, or I'll shoot you."
"Listen..lady, thanks for uh..trying to save me..but Devon here is not dangerous!" Rosemary told her.
"LEAVE." The woman yelled to Asher, not listening to what anyone was saying.

"I-I'll leave...I'll leave..."
"Devon! You can't leave! You'd die out there without me."
"Good." The woman said.
"I'll be fine." Asher murmured.
"Now go! Get! Get!" The woman shoo'ed Asher away with her pistol.
"I'm going..."
Rosemary watched Asher go back out in the rain, the woman still pointing her pistol at him.
"You'll thank me later..." she told Rosemary.
"Yeah...I'm sure I will."
When Asher's silhouette finally disappeared, the woman lowered the pistol.
"I gotta put this back. Gramps will be really angry if he sees his gun gone.."
"Why did you do that? That was my friend!" Rosemary yelled at her.
"He is not your friend. He is a horrible monster."
Rosemary quickly looked at her watch to look at what exact time period they were in...
"This is the Vietnam war...this woman's behavior makes sense now." Rosemary thought.
" You must be starving! I can't imagine the torture you went through. I'll cook you some food, ok?"
"Uhhh...ok."
"And put those socks back on. Nobody wants to see your feet."

Meanwhile, Asher was crossing his arms, shivering from the cold rain. He knew that someone would assume things based off his race eventually..but it still hurt.
After walking in the rain for a bit, he spotted someone in the distance, a solider...
"Let's hope he won't yell at me too..." Asher thought.
As Asher walked closer to the man, he felt his intuition spike up; his brain was telling him that this person was important..and that he should speak to him.
Asher happened to glance at his hand, which was..disappearing? His heart skipped a beat.
"What is happening? Am I dreaming?" Asher thought.
He saw the soldier head straight for a land mine, not even realizing it was there. Never mind the weird hand disappearing act, Asher had to save this man..and fast..
Asher's hand started fading away quicker as the man walked closer and closer to the land mine.
Asher, using the non disappeared hand, pulled the soldier back, causing him to stumble a bit.
"Dude...there's a land mine right in front of you." Asher told him.
"So there is!" He chuckled. "Thank you..for warning me. I would've been in pieces if it weren't for you!"
"No problem..."
As the soldier walked away from the land mine, Asher's fading hand returned back to normal...
