" Hao! Get your ass up right now!" Screaming can be heard from the house. " It's 7:50 right now!"

Groaning back a reply, Hao opened his eyes and stared at the ceiling. Today was his first day at Wonder high-school. His family has just moved from Los Angeles to New York, and he was dreading this day. He didn't want to meet new people, he didn't want to make new friends. He already had his two closest friends, Soonyoung and Chan. Why did he have to move? It's not like his family was broke or anything. In fact, his family was very wealthy. His mother was a surgeon, his dad was a successful businessman who makes deals with people around the world. What deals does he make? Hao doesn't know and doesn't really care. So he didn't understand why they had to move.

" Your father has just gotten a promotion in New York! Pack your bags, we are leaving in 2 days."

Were his mothers words. Nothing else, just " Your father had just gotten a promotion."

So what if his father had gotten a promotion? Why couldn't just his father go to New York by himself? Why bring the family too? In fact, he does not understand that part the most. His father was barely home because of his work. They moved to New York for his father just for him to leave them again for his work in Europe. Like, Hao hasn't seen his father ever since they moved to New York. It's already been 10 days since they moved here. And his father had left for Europe the next day they came here.

Sighing, Hao finally got up from his bed. The clock now said 7:55, Hao went to his closet and picked out a basic outfit. A thick gray hoodie with black sweatpants. Hao then went to his bathroom and brushed up. His long hair was sticking out from everywhere, and he groaned as he tried to tame his hair.

Stupid hair, I would've cut you already if it wasn't for Chan, begging me to keep it long.

Thinking about his friend made him tear up. The hardest part of moving from Los Angeles to New York was leaving his two closest friends behind. He, Soonyoung, and Chan have been inseparable ever since the day they had met. Which had been 10 years ago. They had met during their first day of grade 2, and now they were in their last year of high school.

Hao still remembered the day when they had promised that all three of them would stick together until the very end. Now Hao had broken that promise. The day he had told Chan and Soonyoung that he was moving was the day Hao had ever witnessed Soonyoung breaking down in tears. Soonyoung had never broken down in tears before. Yes, Soonyoung had cried before, but breaking down in tears was a first.

Hao hated that day. He wishes that that day had never happened. He didn't want to see his friends in tears because of him. He didn't want to break the promise they made. He didn't want to leave them. But life, of course, hates them. They had to be separated, separated for how long, no one knows. All Hao knows is that he doesn't want to be in New York, doesn't want to go to a new school in the middle of November, and doesn't want to go to an unfamiliar place. He wants to go back, go back to where his friends are, and go back to where it is familiar.

" Xu Minghao! If you don't get your ass down here in 3 seconds..." Hao's mother had screamed, breaking Hao's train of thoughts.

" Coming, mom." Was all Hao could say. He didn't want to go see his mom. He wanted to crawl back into bed and get whisked away into his dreams. But he couldn't, so instead, Hao forced himself to go downstairs and finally go to school.

" Hao, look at the time. It's 8 am! You were supposed to leave at 8." Hao's mother said to him while cutting up the vegetables.

"Oh." Was all Hao replied with.

" What's with that depressing tone? Are you okay?" His mother looked up, staring at Hao, who had his head down.

" I'm fine." That was a lie, Hao was not fine. He didn't want to be here. He wanted to cry. He wanted to go see his friends.

" Honey, baby. I know you are not fine. What's wrong?" His mother asked in a concerning voice.

" Nothing, I'm fine, just tired." Hao made up.

" Stop lying, tell me what's wrong. I am your mother." His mother continued to pressure Hao into talking.

" I am fine." Hao said back, starting to become annoyed.

His mother looked at him with concerned eyes, knowing that Hao didn't want to tell her what's bothering him, hurted her heart. But she also understands that if he doesn't want to talk about it, she should drop it. So that's what she did. " Do you want breakfast?" Instead, she asked. She knew that Hao didn't really eat breakfast, only just drank milk and ate an egg.

" No thanks, mom." Hao replied back, Hao went to the refrigerator and got a bottle of milk, and poured it into a cup.

Hao's mother stared at her son and shook her head. " Want a ride? Considering that it is already 8:05, and walking there is 20 mins. And your school starts at 8:30." She asked, but she already knew the answer.

"No thanks, I'll run." Hao said back as he finished his milk and got his backpack ready.

" Oh, okay then. Be safe! Text me when you get there. Also, I will be a bit late coming home today."

"Okay. Bye, mom. I'll be safe." Hao said and left the house.
