Chapter 3

The Red Keep

272 AC

The king has officially lost it he had become obsessed with wildfire and burning things, you see a year before the lord of Duskendale had taken the king hostage leaving Daeron to rule in kings landing while his brother and Lord Tywin took command of the royal host laying siege to the city.

The young Prince had done very well in governing the City taking lord Tywin's lessons on ruling to heart in his dealings. But when the king returned after a few months as a prisoner he became paranoid and grew madder by the day but today was the day the people grew to fear him

He had his middle son Daeron stand before the Iron Throne but to the shock of the court, the boy was then chained and hosted before the Iron Throne as soon as he walked into the Great Hall as a vat of green liquid was underneath him.

Ser Barristan's P.O.V

What was the king doing this was no traitor it was his son his ten and one name days son who was begging his father for mercy only for the king to laugh I could tell my brothers wanted to stop this but there was nothing we could do if we intervened we would be cut down and the boy killed anyway the king had stopped laughing as he watched his other son Rhaegar hold his mother back he stood from the Iron Throne looking at the pyromancer nodding his head before turning to Daeron.

"You are no Dragon boy you are not my son you're a Traitor and will burn this day."

The pyromancer dropped the torch into the green liquid causing the wildfire to consume the prince it was that day the carefree Daeron Targaryen died in the fires of Betrayal the chains broke as the fire melted them the King was once again laughing but this time at the queen as she had broken down in tears. I couldn't take it I was about to be called a kingslayer when lord Tywin pointed his hand in shock at the pit Turing to look, I could not believe my eyes.

Daeron Targaryen stood there naked as the day he was born covered in ash his purple eyes gleamed with power the king sat back in his Throne the fear in his eyes was clear to see only for Daeron to snort in disgust, as the green flames danced on his skin going from his shoulders to his hands only to be extinguished as his clenched his fists.

"I shall take my leave your grace." with a small bow while glaring at his brother he turned and walked away accepting a towel from a servant to wrap around his waist he walked out of the throne room up to his quarters and was not seen for the rest of the day.

The court, however, could not believe what had happened the king tried to burn his son only for his son to come out completely unharmed and able to control the fire, he was truly blessed by the gods or were the tales of the Dragon Blood true for this young prince anyway.

Daeron's P.O.V

I sat there in my quarters for hours my father the man I looked up to tried to burn me alive the Kingsguard just stood there but they were honour bound to serve the king and from the looks, in their eyes, they were just as shocked it was my brother's reaction that shocked me he did nothing to help me not a single word from him.

walking over to my chest I knew what I had to do opening the lid I removed the armour gifted to me by Lord Tywin the bags of gold by the Tyrell's a beautiful sword by the Starks.

Quickly dressing in my gear and my travel cloak I made my way out of the Red Keep towards the ports I had to leave Westeros I had no place here anymore I would go to Essos to the free cities in search of one group that I would fit in with like me they had lost their home centuries ago and were searching for a purpose The Lost legion.

It took an hour but I managed to book passage on a ship heading for Pentos and just in time as we were leaving the ports the bells of the Red Keep went off looks like my disappearance had been discovered earlier than I had planned oh well no matter I was in my cabin on my way to start a new life I would find the Legion and form a new nation under my rule that would rival the Seven Kingdoms.

1 hour earlier

Rhaella's P.O.V

I did not know what to expect when I arrived in my sons quarters but my son missing and his chest open with his equipment also gone was not it checking all his rooms I found nothing but a letter for me sitting down on his bed the tears welling in my eyes as I read his goodbye.

Mother

By the time you read this, I shall be sailing for Essos with no intentions of returning to the Seven Kingdoms Aerys deciding to burn me alive before the court sealed my choice please give my love to Viserys tell him I'm sorry for not saying goodbye but I could not take the chance of father wanting to kill me again.

Goodbye mother

Daeron Targaryen

The exiled Dragon

Running from his rooms I screamed for aid. "Ring the Bells my son is missing ring the damn bells!" The city was quickly closed, and guards searched the streets with no luck my son was gone I had failed, failed as a mother to protect my children I could only pray that he would be safe.

Normal P.O.V

Word had spread fast across the kingdoms of Daeron's departure from Westeros and the reasons for it Tywin Lannister had resigned as Hand and returned to the Rock Rhaegar had left for Dragonstone only Returning to see his mother those who were truly devoted to the Faith prayed to the Warrior to protect his chosen Prince as he sailed to Essos.

The Kingsguard were determined to head out to find him and bring him home but to their anger, the King refused so they carried on in their duties while praying he was okay it was only weeks later that when they saw the king spend hours at night sitting in his son's room did their blood Boil in anger he dare act sad when he was the one to cause the Prince to flee without any protection.

2 weeks later

Pentos harbour

Daeron Targaryen learned something very important on his trip across the narrow sea he hated sailing.

How people did this for a living he did not know but it was behind him, for now, his journey could begin the city of Pentos was beautiful compared to kings landing this was paradise making his way off the docks and into the city itself he mission to find the Lost Legion began and what better place than a tavern thank the Seven his cloak had a hood otherwise they would never let a child inside …. He hoped.

Oh how wrong he was a rich looking man most likely a merchant saw him get off the ship and decided that the young boy with strong Valyrian features would be a great bed-warmer and decided to take him he and his two (servants/slaves/Bodyguards) followed the young boy to a tavern and waited till he sat down before making there move.

Both the Merchant and Daeron didn't realise that someone was watching them a young man about 4 years older than Daeron and also from Westeros who recognised the Prince but also what the Merchant was planning on doing.

Waiting until the Merchant made his move he readied his spear just in time as Daeron drew his sword cutting down one of the merchants guards before quickly blocking an attack from the 2nd which left his back open as the Merchant pulled a dagger ready to strike only to scream in pain.

Daeron cutting down the 2nd servant turned to see the Merchant dropping his dagger before falling to the ground clutching his now wounded leg, turning to the young man holding a spear he slightly lowered his sword upon seeing the spear and sun sigil of House Martell of Dorne.

"I thank you for your aid ser May I inquire to your name."

The Dornishmen just laughed before responding. "It was my Pleasure to aid you my Prince and for a child your age you did well killing 2 men in your first fight. As to who I am your Highness, I am Oberyn Martell prince of Dorne, now tell me what brings a Prince of the Seven Kingdoms to Essos".

Telling Oberyn of his plan the Prince of Dorne was to say shocked at what had happened by the Seven he was probably going to be yelled at by his mother when he returned to Sunspear considering she had told him to remain in Dorne but not even his mother would try to burn him alive with Wildfire.

But his plan to find the Lost Legion was was a daring one he had heard of this group a roving Empire without land to call its own, he spent a few hours telling Daeron all he knew before the two went there separate ways, Daeron would remember aid Oberyn gave him and in the soon to be named Red Vipers eyes would pay it back years later during the Rebellion.
