That was a disaster. Ayesha kept pondering over what just happened a few minutes ago as she stood next to her Mom on the footpath while her Dad was looking for a CNG. She had her arms crossed and eyes down on the pavement as if something interesting was there. That guy was worse than the first two. Her Mom caressed her upper arm and said, 'It's ok dear, we'll find another guy.'
Ayesha let out an exhausted sigh and said, 'That was the third guy, Mom. Didn't you see how he was shamelessly insulting me? He was just like the first two, rude and shameless.'
'I'm sure your soulmate is out there somewhere. You have to be patient.' Her Mom squeezed her hand. Ayesha gave a forced smile.
She kept wondering if her dream man was out there somewhere. What's he like? Would he give her the happiness and love she wanted? The happily ever after she always fantasized about?
She never had a date and if she did maybe this arranged marriage thing wouldn't have happened. She would've shown her boyfriend or guy best friend to her parents and boom, a beautiful wedding. But is finding love really that easy? Maybe having someone prepared would have saved her from getting mocked by the first three douchebags. It wasn't like she never had guy best friends. She had one but he got happily married right after getting a job.
The heat of the sun and the thoughts of those jerks and love started to make her irritated, almost angry. Why can't someone just pop out? Such as a rival like Aaron Blackford or a stranger she could bump into like Ryle Kincaid. She mentally scolded herself for being so impatient.
You're an adult, think like one. Your guy will come out from somewhere. Just keep patient. She mentally said to herself.
Her Dad saw the look on her face. As he wipes away sweat from his forehead he said, 'There are a million guys out there. Don't let three of them let you down. Finding a partner isn't so easy.'
Ayesha just nodded. Her Dad was right. Finding love isn't easy.
***
At night her Dad knocked at her room.
'Come in!' She called. He entered and smiled.
'I have something to tell you. I found someone else for you.' He announced.
Ayesha started to feel hope surge in her. Is this it? Is he the one?
'Really? Who is it?' She asked as she sat up straight. She prayed inside for the guy to not be another douchebag or jerk. Being insulted for her personality and looks was enough. One of them had the stereotypical 'fair skin is beautiful' mindset. She never wanted to punch someone so badly.
'His name is Syed. He goes in your tall, rich and good figure standards.'
Ayesha laughed at that. Syed, she repeated the name in her head. It was beautiful. But is his personality as good as his name? Allah knows.
Her Dad browsed through his gallery until finding his picture. 'This is him.' He said as he handed the phone to her. Ayesha's heart skipped a beat as she looked at the man in the picture. He was really handsome and by good figure he was nor buff nor so skinny that his bones stuck out. He was slim in a healthy way, had a pale complexion and straight hair. It was the bangs and stubble that put the cherry on the cake.
Just by looking at his pic the butterflies in her belly started going crazy as if she was going to meet Gojo Satoru.
'What do you think?' Her Dad asked.
'He looks nice.' She said as she handed him back his phone. 'But the first three guys were good-looking too. I hope Syed is good on the inside too.'
'Only one way to find that out.' He said. 'We'll be going to his house 2 days later. Don't be sad if he rejects you too. Allah has planned out who your soulmate will be, just have faith in Him.'
Ayesha nodded. He gave her one last smile and went out of the room. As she lied down on bed her phone pinged indicating a text came. When she opened her phone, she saw her best friend Hannah texted her.
Hannah: Hey! How'd it go? Did you guys get arranged?
Ayesha: No. He was the same as the first two. An absolute jerk.
Hannah: Wow. Idk why you keep meeting jerks.
Ayesha: Tell me about it! Btw, Dad just announced that he found another guy.
Hannah: Ooh! What's his name?
Ayesha: Syed. I saw his picture and he is quite handsome.
Hannah: Don't let looks fool you.
Ayesha: They won't. :)
Ayesha sighed as she put her phone away. She misses that girl a lot. They've been friends since 6th grade but ever since Hannah transferred schools at 8th grade, their meetups went through texts and calls. Years went by and their friendship is still strong as before.
Ayesha closed her eyes and thought about her probably soon-to-be husband. She learned her lesson of getting her hopes up. Every time she did, they went crashing down. She connected her palms by the side in a book position and prayed.
She scolded herself for being so pathetic. What if she can't find love? She'll just lead her life alone. So many people do that. Why is she being so paranoid if he'll be nice or not? She really was a hopeless romantic.
