Chapter Eight: Trap

Today was the day we were going to trap Isabella. It has been two weeks since we came up with the plan. We decided to wait in case Isabella was listening to us. This way she won't be expecting it. During the past two weeks, I have gotten closer to all of the Volturi. Sophia is like the sister I wish I always had. Rose and Emmett are much happier now that they have their third mate. Alec and Jane are like my older siblings which can be annoying at times because they ratted me and Sophie out a few times when she was trying to get me some cookies. And this other time I was supposed to be taking a nap but I snuck into her room and we started playing, Jane and Alec came in to talk to Sophie and caught us. We got corner time and then Daddy made me take a nap.

Marcus has become like a second father to me and the other kings are like uncles. I was surprised by the bond me and Caius developed because everyone always talks about him being this heartless monster but he was never mean to me. Whenever I ask him to play with me and Sophie he always says yes. And one night when my family was out hunting I had a nightmare and he came and got in the bed and held me. When I woke up the next morning I was still holding onto him. I thought Jazzy would get mad but instead, I caught him taking a picture.

I've spent a lot of time in little space recently but now I have to be big so I can focus on the task. The plan is for me to meet with some of my bunny friends and then when I signal them to run to safety I am going to "chase" them but really I am running to the area where everyone else will be hiding. I have been practicing my defense in human and wolf form. I hope our plan works otherwise I don't know if we'll ever be able to catch her.

"Are you ready princess?"

"As ready as I'll ever be Uncle Caius. I'm only running to certain death."

"Don't you dare say that. We will all be there she will not get past us and she certainly won't be able to lay a finger on you. We will take her back to Volterra for her trial and you will never have to deal with her again."

"I hope so." He gently lifted my chin so I was looking up at him.

"I know so sweetheart now go over to your daddy he's waiting for you."

I looked behind me to see Jazzy watching our interaction with a smile on his face.

"Caius is right you know? We won't let her get close enough to touch you. And if by some miracle she can I will personally rip her to shreds and they will transport her back to Volterra in pieces. Why are you sad?"

"Because after we catch her they all have to leave. I don't want them to leave Daddy."

"Oh, princess we won't be gone forever. I don't want to leave you either but we have to return home and resume our duties or people will start to think we are not doing our jobs."

"But papa, its not fair. You guys live so far and I won't be able to listen to you read me stories anymore. And Uncle Caius won't play with me and Sophie and I won't get his hugs. And I won't be able to listen to Uncle Aro's stories anymore. And when I'm big I won't have my siblings to train with and it's just not fair!"

"Come here Cara Mia, I know it is not fair but that is the way it is. We will come back to visit as soon as we can."

Then a brilliant idea popped in my head. "Why can't me and Daddy go with you?" Everyone looked shocked at my question. It wasn't that shocking to me. I mean we could go and then Sophie could go with Rose and Em and then I wouldn't have to leave my new family and Sophie could spend some time with her family.

"We will have to finish this discussion later. Ellie, I need you to be big so we can get going."

"Fine."

"Without the attitude 'cause we have enough time for me to take you over my knee." I started blushing at his words.

"I'm sorry for the attitude Jazzy. But you can't deny that you like when I'm bratty." Before he could respond I began walking outside. I steadied my breathing and heartbeat as I went outside. This is it and it has to work. Once I reached the creek I sat down and waited for Rosalina and her family to come out. I could feel myself being watched. She was here.

Oh, its no worry when I told my parents they didn't hesitate to say yes. You have become a close friend and we know which way to run to not get in the way. We even created a burrow to hide out in.

I am glad you will be comfortable and you all have become close friends to me as well.

I picked Rosalina up as the rest of her family came out. Our conversation is completely telepathic so the only person who could hear it was Edward. To an outsider, it looks like I just picked up a random bunny and her family is coming to defend her. As she jumped out of my hands I began chasing her.

"Come back bunny I just want to play." As I ran toward the clearing I saw her family dart in their burrow.

"Stupid bunny." I plopped down in the clearing with a pout on my face. As I looked up I saw her. She looked different now. Her skin was clear and her eyes were bright red indicating a recent feed. Her eyes were cold as she looked at me.

"I've been waiting for this moment for years. There's no Charlie to protect you. No wolves. No Cullens and certainly no Daddy. Look at you so helpless I can hear your heart beat speeding up. Are you scared?"

"I was. For so long I was scared of you, I didn't understand why you hated me so much. But now I see it. You envy me. You hate the fact that I can be myself and people still love me. You envy all of the relationships I have built with people. But what you don't understand is that you could've had that too. I wasn't keeping anyone from you. You are the reason you don't have those relationships. Your attitude and actions pushed them away before you had the chance to build anything. You can kill me but what will that get you? Do you really think that once you kill me everyone will finally want you. It will only be another reason they hate you and you will have no one to blame but yourself."

"No, once you're gone they will all see how much better I am without you to poison their thoughts. They will see how I am stronger and more beautiful than you could ever be."

"Then do it. Take that chance. Kill me right here right now. See what happens then."

 As she went to rush towards me she was grabbed by Major and Uncle Caius. "We should kill you right now screw a trial." She tried to break out of their grip but they could both only see red even with newborn strength she was no match against them.

"We will not kill her yet but Jane can give her a preview of what is to come." Papa was the one to speak this time. He was enraged that this newborn who was supposedly his baby's sister would dare try to harm her let alone try to kill her. Jane stepped forward and said the one word that drew fear from all vampires in her presence. Bella began screaming as she crumpled to the floor. Most in my situation would be terrified of what they were witnessing but I wasn't I felt safe because I knew that while I was surrounded by my family that none of them would allow anyone to hurt me and if someone dares to try they will be shown no mercy.
