Chapter 2

Y/n pov:

After that strange incident in the car, we were in the elevator on the way to my new apartment. It was the floor below where Evelynn said hers started. Speaking of, she had been acting strangely since I woke up. She's been more distant and colder. Maybe I offended her somehow by falling asleep in her car.

Y/n: "Um, Miss Evelynn, has something happened? Did I do something?"

She smiled sweetly, but this time it seemed quite genuine.

Evelynn: "No darling, everything is fine. Hey, I forgot to ask this earlier since it's not that important, but do you have any health conditions that could affect your work?"

Y/n: "Not that I'm aware of."

Evelynn: "Hmm."

She nodded in acknowledgement. We stepped out the elevator and walked down the hall to my door. Most of them seemed empty but it makes sense since the building only opened a few months ago and the prices are outrageous. Evelynn led me to the door at the end of the corridor and handed me a keycard.

Evelynn: "Go on then, it's yours after all."

I scanned the card and opened the door to admire my new living space. It was incredible. It must've been more than twice the size of my old place and had massive windows to give a beautiful view of the city centre. Evelynn was leaning against the wall next to me as I admired everything.

Y/n: "Do I really deserve this?" I whispered half to myself, half as a genuine question.

Evelynn: *chuckle* "The fact that you asked that question shows that you do. The moving company should have finished sorting your stuff now. I can go speak to the other girls while you move the boxes up here then you can come and introduce yourself. There should already be a nice bed set up in here so you can rest after that."

Evelynn's trust is supposed to be insanely hard to get and I seem to have somehow managed it in one day.

Y/n: "Yeah, it's been a busy day."

Evelynn: "Okay, I'll give you my number so you can text me when you've moved everything."

And got her number. Wow. But something still irked me about all of this.

Y/n: "Miss Evelynn, how did you organise this? Surely even you can't book a moving company to just appear in five minutes or get an apartment set up for me in one day. Plus, you had the contract written with those insane things. Was the interview just a formality?"

Evelynn: "Hmm you're quite sharp. There were actually two contracts prepared. One of them is the one you were given, and the other one had less benefits and a far lower salary. I'll let you in on a little secret, when I looked at you without my sunglasses, I used a part of my ability to analyse you as well as just looking at the way you acted. If I deemed you trustworthy, I'd give you the good contract. If not, I'd give you the shit one. I'd already decided to take you on, you're clearly skilled enough, I just wanted to decide if you were decent enough to work this closely with us. You really exceeded my expectations darling."

Y/n: "That's an incredible power, but it's only PART of your ability?"

Evelynn: "Yes darling, there's so much more to mine and the other girl's powers. I'm sure that even if you were still planning to mess with us you won't anymore. See you in a bit~"

She turned and walked out the door, swaying her hips. I took a deep breath and smiled while looking out the window, my life is sure to be interesting now.

Evelynn pov:

He's interesting, very interesting. I need to go talk to the girls. I opened our door and called out to them.
