Hitomi hardly ever thought about the boy she had liked in second grade.

He'd show up in her mind randomly, the instances few and far between. When he would pop up in her mind, Hitomi often got a small laugh out of it, remembering his loud, rambunctious personality, and recalling the pranks he'd pull on their poor teacher who was just trying to control the chaos he and his friends would cause with their quirks. He had always been a bit of a troublemaker.

But once Hitomi had her small laugh at the memories, she'd simply carry on with her day. They had known each other for only a year, after all, maybe a year and a half if you were stretching it, before Hitomi moved away to America. Her thoughts hardly ever lingered on him after she'd left. After all, it was simply a childhood crush, so really, what was the point in wondering what if? She had other things to focus on, like the fact she and her best friend Nari now lived on two separate continents.

Hitomi remembered how Nari had found out about her crush and wouldn't stop bugging her about it.

...

"Hitomi, why do you like Tsuyoshi??"

"Huh?"

Nari placed her hands on her hips, making Hitomi look up from the drawing she was coloring in. It was currently break time, and luckily Hitomi's seat was near the back of the classroom, far away enough that none of their classmates would be able to hear. "Tsuyoshi," the blonde repeated, squinting at her friend. "You like him!"

Hitomi blushed, turning back to her drawing. "N-No, I don't!" She hastily went back to scratching her crayon against the paper, her heartbeat erratic.

Nari placed her hands on the edge of the desk, now kneeling next to it with her chin resting on the surface. "Yes, you dooooo," she whined, her lips pursing in a pout. "Why do you like him? He's so loud, and he and the other boys are always causing trouble for our teacher with his magnet quirk!"

"I'm telling you I don't like him!" Hitomi squeaked, turning so she was facing away from Nari. "I don't!"

"Hitomiiiii." Nari reached across the desk, poking her arm. "Quit lying. You stare at him all the time whenever we're near him during cleaning time-"
