WHEN I GET home I can already feel how my family is home. Dad is probably upstairs, doing his paperwork or whatever he does.

Naira is probably in her room, studying while Nina and Makayla are downstairs doing whatever they do.

Out of everyone Makayla is closest to in this house then it'd probably be Nina. But that isn't too shocking, out of everyone here Nina is definitely the easiest to be with.

"Hey," I say as I get out of the entrance.

Naira rushes in from the corner, with some loose papers on her hand. Fresh writing on them. Her eyes have that sporadic look to them.

"Where were you?" she rushes out. I look to the open door and see Makayla and Nina peeking through. "Do you know what time it is? Father would've blown his fuse if I hadn't covered for you!"

A tinge of annoyance passes through me. "It's not even that dark out," I mumble.

"That's not what's important!" Naira nearly shouts. But she manages to hold her voice in, her eyes wandering upstairs. "Where were you?"

"In school."

Naira gives me a look. A look that says she doesn't believe me.

"It's your choice whether you believe me or not, but I really wasn't doing anything crazy, I just lost track of time." I push myself past her, not wanting to be in this conversation anymore.

Nina steps forward, "Are you okay?" She looks over to Makayla, "After what happened this morning?"

Honestly, I'd been pretty pissed. But after the deal I'd made with Asher I don't have the time to be sad over things like that. I've made Asher my boyfriend—through a deal—but my boyfriend nonetheless.

I pass her a smile. "I'm fine."

For the first time in forever Asher is in a morning lesson. I do what I usually do during these situations and watch him.

My heart flutters at the sight. Several emotions pass through me, excitement, happiness, fear, but also sadness. I can't even tell what I'm feeling all these emotions over anymore.

But I can't stop feeling them, nonetheless.

He won't see me. He won't notice me. He—

He turns around.

Just slightly, his body still facing forwards. But he looks in my direction. His eyes meeting mine. He looks at me. He sees me.

And then he turns around.

I blink.

My body turns feverish. Heat passes through me, from my toes to the top of my head.

For the first time, I'm seen; by him.

For the first time, I'm seen; by him
