The next day...

Camila's pov

I had left Ken's house unexpectedly last night, like I was being kicked out but Eileen ensured me that Ken was not well. Just out of a sudden. I woke up, made my bed and headed downstairs for breakfast. I only have one class today, nutrition class. We are actually going herb harvesting.

'Morning, didn't hear you come in last night.' My mom says, and I just nod.

'Came back too early than I had expected.' I reply back with a low voice.

'What's wrong? Did something bad happen?' My mom asks worried.

'No. Nothing bad happened. Just that they were weird in the end, kept telling me Ken was too sick to take me home.' My mom loudly gasps.

'Oh, no. Get Ken to explain right away, don't rely on what you were told.' My mom suggests.

'I don't actually want to seem like I'm overreacting, that would be one huge red flag in something that has not even yet started.' I say. 'I better get going, bye.' I continue.

My spirit is let down, but I still become strong enough to go to school. A part of me thinks Ken's family was weird because everything started off good and then out of a sudden they started to act strange. What if they didn't like me enough to be with Ken? But also, another part of me is really worried about Ken. What could have been the problem that he suddenly disappeared. I sigh out loud as I enter the school door and head to class.

My face turns light when I reach class and find Ken already there. I approach as I take my seat, but I notice that he is acting very strange. He has not looked at me since I walked in, and that is so very much unlike him. I loudly clear my throat to get his attention as he is paying much attention to the open cooking book before him.

'Ken.' I decide to say since it doesn't seem like he will be saying anything anytime soon or never. 'Ken!' This time I exclaim as I even hit my hand on the table, calling everyone's attention.

'Hey, hey. Cammy.' He acts like he is yet seeing me now.

Okay I don't know if I can say he acts like he is really seeing me now, because he looks traumatised by the look of just his face. He looks like a person who didn't get enough sleep and unsettled which is also very much unlike Ken. Okay, now I am worried.

'Ken, is everything okay? I left without seeing you last night and I was kind of worried. What's wrong?' I ask, looking deep into his eyes like my answers lay in them. I watch clearly the movement of his eyes and he looks away and back down.

A loud clearing of throat reaches my ears, and I realize that Mrs Davis is actually standing before the class. I wonder how long has she actually been standing there. I sit straight as my legs had turned to face Ken, and I look at him one last time before I take my attention to Mrs Davis. Judging by her face, she has been standing there for quite some time. I can't even smile. I'm too worried about Ken.

'Would you like me to excuse you? Or, maybe the whole class can excuse you.' Mrs Davis affirms, and I quickly shake off my head as I take out my books from my bag.

Class goes by. Indeed, Ken is different today. His mind doesn't seem to be here and there. He keeps on getting called on to bring him back to focus but he withdraws away right after the call. This is making me to also lose focus, because I can see that clearly something is wrong. Finally, class is over and like we all expected in class according to how much worried Mrs Davis can be towards her students, she calls Ken in her office.

'Camila, wait up.' I am stopped by Bella calling out my name as I am walking by the hallway. I roll my eyes as I don't even bother to turn to look how far she is. I wait until she's here. 'Camila, are you okay?' She asks. I know she might really be worried, but I honestly feel betrayed by her. Matt walks right behind her and I intend on making another move but Matt pulls me back by my wrist.
