Everybody inside the carriage started freaking out after hearing the vampire's words.

"Attack?! What do you mean we are under an attack?" asked the human man sounding panicked. Polly and Jessica visibly paled.

Somebody started banging the carriage harshly from outside, shaking it roughly.

The vampire shut the windows firmly, "I saw three deadwalkers outside".

"D-Deadwalkers! !" said polly in horror.

Deadwalkers are the deranged vampires groups, who practically go insane after the turning process with their never ending thirst for blood. They will be completely normal like humans at day time but as it turns dark they start showing their vampire side attacking every random person they come across wanting to suck their bloods out.

There was no cure for them, killing them on spot was the only way to stop chaos.

"What about the coach man?" asked Myra concerned. They were all confined inside with doors shut, keeping them safe for the time being, but what about the poor man who is riding the carriage outside?

"He would probably be dead by now" said the Vampire nonchalantly.

"There is no point in us sitting here waiting for those bloody deadwalkers to go away. Let us get out and kill them instead", stated the demon sounding irritated.

Banging continued outside and polly screamed when the carriage tilted a little due to the impact.

The vampire guy pulled out a pistol from behind his pants. "We don't know exactly how many of them are there outside". Getting up from his seat and moving towards the door, polly and her husband slid to their right making space for the vampire to sit by the door in the corner. Turning towards the demon he asked, "Do you have a weapon in hand?"

The Falseborn demon nodded pulling out a boot knife.

"The moment we step out, shut the carriage door and stay inside" instructed the vampire to the rest of the members. "Let's go!" he said to the demon and they both opened the door and stepped out.

There were totally five Deadwalkers outside waiting to suck on the passengers inside. One of them noticed the two passengers stepping out and launched himself to attack them baring its fangs. The vampire wasted no time in pointing his pistol towards its head and in pulling the trigger, killing it on spot.

Two more, tried to attack the demon, but he being a demon was stronger than the deadwalker. He easily cought one by it's hair, pulling it's head upwards so that he can slit the deadwalker's throat with the knife and then swiftly grabbed the other one and stabbed on it's chest.

Three dead, there were two more left.

The vampire aimed to kill the fouth deadwalker but missed the bullet. Then he tried once again and it hit the deranged vampire on it's stomach while the demon guy snapped the head of the last remaining one with his bare hands.

With that all the deadwalkers were killed. Walking towards the front of the carriage the demon saw the dead body of the coach man. Lifting the body up, he placed it against a tree. Out of the two horses drawing the carriage, one was brutally killed and the other was alive but wounded.

"It's not safe staying here any longer!" said the vampire wiping his bloodied hands with a handkerchief. "We need to atleast make it to the nearby village"

"Don't think tis' poor thing will last long" stated the demon looking at the injured horse. "Hope he can make it to the next village".

"The next village is about fifteen minutes away from here, let's try to ride slowly. Once we reach there we can inform the magistrate about what happened here and get the horse treated if it is alive until then". replied the vampire to have the demon agree.

"Lemme ride the carriage then, you go inside" spoke the demon as he climbed on to the driver's seat and the vampire walked towards the carriage door

Mean while, the people inside the carriage was starting to get tensed. First there were noises outside but now there it dead silent, there were no more bangings outside much to their relief.

"Do you think those two are fine outside?" Jessica voiced out her concern.

The sky was starting to turn darker outside and Myra was getting worried. With a hundreds of what ifs? running in her head.

"They both are strong, I think they should be fine!" said the human man who was in the carriage.

"How do you know that they are strong? what if they are hurt?" Polly questioned her husband.

Before he could answer someone knocked the door three times. Jessica made a move to open the door but the human man stopped her, "Wait! let's confirm who it is before opening" and then called out. "Who is it?"

"It's me, open up. We are all safe now". Everybody evidently relaxed, Myra let out a breath she didn't know she was holding.

Jessica pulled the latch, letting the vampire inside, "what about the other person?" Polly asked sounding worried.

"He will be riding the carriage for now. The couch man died and one horse is dead and the other is injured" he informed with a shrug, "We won't be able to make it far with one horse. We'll ride slow for now and try to reach the next village".

"Are you hurt anywhere?" Myra asked to see him shake his head, "No, I'm fine"

They started travelling at the snail pace this time, moving some distance stopping for a while and then moving and stopping again, taking forty five minutes to reach the next village. By then Myra had given up all hopes of reaching the capital that day.

They were in a village named Granch, and still had to travel for another hour from there to arrive at Terracota. The time was already half past six in the evening and Myra thought that there was no point in trying to catch another carriage and continuing the journey. It could be more dangerous travelling at night and she had enough of adventure for a day and didn't wish to experience anymore.

Reaching her destination a day later wouldn't do much harm as there was no one waiting for her there.

Polly and her husband decided to stay at Granch that night. While Jessica, the vampire and the Demon decided to travel further to the capital by taking the next available carriage after meeting the village magistrate.

Myra had her dinner along with the human couple at a local inn and checked in to a room there and settled in for the night.
