Y/n's Age-12

Nothing ever lasts forever.

Everyone knows that.

It felt as if Taylor and Y/n had just resolved their problems and then fell into another.

Not too long ago, they had an argument about the way Taylor blamed her for everything that happened in the studio while she was there. The blonde never understood what her 12 year old was telling her, because honestly, she didn't think she did that.

That was until today.

"Y/n! Are you ready? We gotta leave in 5 minutes." Taylor shouted at her daughter, who was trying to finish getting ready. "Almost mom!"

She then came downstairs ready to go.

Taylor had asked Y/n if she wanted to tag along with her at the studio, thinking she would say no. Instead, she said yes and looked happy about it. If her mom was asking her to come along with her she wanted her company.

The drive to the studio seemed short because when she realized they were already there.

Y/n couldn't help but wonder if the events that happened before would repeat themselves again?

Had her mom changed for the better?

She brushed it off and they walked into the studio. "Hi uncle Jack!" Y/n cheerfully waved at one of her mom's best friends.

"Hey Y/n/n! It's been a while since you came along. I was beginning to miss you." Jack spoke in an honest tone. "Only because you love me most." She replied. "If you say so." He said. Y/n then pretended to be offended, but in reality they always joke around. Even Taylor knew when they were together something was ought to happen.

She dropped her purse off on the sofa and walked to the recording booth.

For a bit everything seemed to be going in the right direction, but then that suddenly vanished.

Y/n had been talking to Jack while her mom was doing some vocals for a song, and then all the sudden she stopped and put everything down. They thought maybe she just messed up on a note or something and she would simply just continue, turns out it wasn't that.

Taylor walked out the booth and said angrily, "Were you trying to distract me? Is that what you were trying to do?" Y/n looked at Jack confused, but he was just as surprised.

"What?" She asked her mom.

"I can see you laughing and playing around out here. Are you trying to sabotage my work?"

"Mom, what? I wasn't trying to mess with your work. I was just talking to uncle Jack while you were recording." Y/n said, backing up herself. "Y/n I saw you, are you calling me a liar?" Taylor spoke. "What, no, I'm not. I'm just saying that I never did that. Why would I ever do that to you?" The 12 year old replied. Jack then stepped in, defending his niece, "Tay, she didn't do anything. Trust me, if she would've done anything wrong she would've felt sorry. Y/n's not like that."

"You know what Y/n, just sit in the corner and don't say a single word. I don't want you anywhere near the instruments, near the computers, or near anything. If you decide to not listen to me, you'll be grounded."

The sofa at the corner of the room had eventually had become her "spot." Mainly because of the fact that the first time Taylor ever got mad at her she told her to sit there, and it just stuck with her.

"But I didn't even do anything."

"Don't talk back to me Y/n Marjorie." Taylor told her.

She then decided to listen to her mother even though in reality she had done nothing wrong. Jack gave her a sad look, but she just gave him a sad smile. Taylor had countlessly accused her of doing something wrong that she was just used to it.

But, she said she was going to change.

Didn't she?

Or so she thought.

Midway through the recording session, Taylor took a quick glance at Y/n. She tried to hide it, but she was hurt. She was never even doing anything wrong, so why did she lash out at her?

The blonde then realized she had in fact, wrongly accused her daughter. She gave Jack the sign to stop the recording and she got up and went over to the 12 year old. "Hey Y/n, I'm sorry. I broke my promise to you. I did it again. I blamed you for something you never did. You weren't doing anything wrong. I had messed up a vocal, and I saw you and Jack smiling. I thought to myself that maybe you thought I did a bad job at vocals." She said, explaining her thoughts. Y/n didn't even dare look at her. She had broken her promise, and now she wanted to apologize? Forgiveness wasn't just going to come that easily.

Taylor took a deep breath and said, "Look, I get it that you're upset, but I really am sorry. I didn't realize what I was doing until I saw your hurt expression. I'm the one at fault, not you." "Then why did you do it again?" Y/n spoke softly. She turned to look at her mom, her eyes tearing up. Truth is, Taylor herself didn't know. She was doing things that hurt her daughter, and she never knew why she did them.

"I don't know, sweetheart. I just know that I shouldn't be putting the blame on you. You have never done anything wrong. It's always been me. My actions lead to my consequences. Y/n/n, please don't think you are the problem. I was talking to your dad yesterday, and I think it's best for me to take a few weeks off. Every time we come to the studio together, something always happens. How do you feel about spending time outside the studio?"

"What about your deadline?" The 12 year old questioned.

"My deadline will still be there for me. Jack and I have most of the songs finished." Her mom replied.

They decided to go home a bit earlier than they had intended to, but that just gave them more quality time together. When Travis arrived home after practice, he was a bit confused as to why they were there so early.

"Why are you two back so early?" Travis asked.

"I decided that it was time for me to take my time off. Being in the studio for so long has made me blame things on Y/n/n for no reason. I think it is my sign to take time away from the studio, but also there deadline is still a few months away." Taylor answered. "Yeah, mom said we would be able to hangout without being in the studio. I think that's a good idea." Y/n responded. "Well if you two think it's a good idea, then I agree." The football player said.

"Mom, we should go to Rhode Island. We haven't been up there in forever." She said.

They then decided to plan their family trip together. Hopefully the time away from the studio would help them bond more with each other. That way there would be less problems between the two of them.

At least at the studio.

But then again, old habits die.

Right?
