After 6 years of no contact, Tristan had contacted Anthony again.

He knew that Anthony would be very useful in future.

After that incident at the hills, Tristan decided to pursue a career as a mortician for a very interesting purpose...

He wanted to relive that night again.

And what better way to do that than...

Tristan had his way with multiple corpses along his career.

Men, women and even kids.

He never felt even the slightest amount of guilt or fear in doing so.

Until her...

Overnight, his life had changed.

He became tortured with fears and nightmares of that day. He felt like he was being eaten alive. The stress was so bad that he was going crazy. He lost his sleep, his appetite, his libido. He was a changed man.

Tristan had always thought that he had the upperhand over Anthony who was just miserable with guilt but...

On that day in the cafe...

"I still get nightmares..." Anthony shivered.

"I don't remember, if I have ever slept properly. I can't eat, enjoy sex, or even act like a normal person.  Two years ago, I was an addict and almost ended up comitting suicide because I was hallucinating her. If not for my father, I would probably be dead".

"Huh?" Tristan furrowed his brows.

It reminded him of the times he badly wishes to forget.

"But it would have been better if I were just dead..."

"Dude you must be crazy. I mean look at you- you have a successful career, you are the heir to your dad's fortune, you are young and healthy. Like why would you want to throw it all away just because of some mistake of your past?"

"She comes in my dreams every night".

"Huh?"

"She chokes me with her bloody, cold hands, sometimes plucks out my eyes and cuts my tongue, then my hands, my penis. Othertimes, she burns my body alive or shaves my skin off...but she doesn't kill me. She doesn't kill me!" Anthony  looked like a madman.

"And when I ask her why is she doing this to me, she laughs and answers in cold-blood..."

"Why am I doing this to you, you ask? No reason. You just happen to catch my eyes"

"Just like I had told her on that night, when I brought her to that house. She begged me to let her go, she said her mom was waiting for her at home, she kept on asking why was I was doing this to her. I had answered in the same way! I took a sip from the bottle and just laughed-Why am I doing this to you, you ask? No reason. You just happen to catch my eyes!"

Anthony's eyes water up.

"Then she threatened to shout, she said the police would come and I would never get away with this".

"And I couldn't take it! I couldn't take her talking back to me, or looking back into my eyes!!! I slammed her head with the bottle, knocking her out once and for all. That was the end of it..."

Tears rolled down Anthony's face.

"Fuck..." Anthony cursed, as he wiped off his tears.

Tristan couldn't believe his eyes.

The man whom he thought to be his counterpart...

The man he had once looked upto.

That man was sitting in front of him...

Reduced to nothing but his pathetic self.

"I gotta go now. Take care" Tristan stands up.

He placed a few bucks on the table and left the cafe.

It was just plain disappointing.

"I would never end up like him." Tristan says, as he lights up a smoke.

And just then...

"Howdy, young man!"

Tristan turns around to see an old man.

"Sorry do I know you?"

"No, but I do"

"What?"

"Looks like your friend back in there is dealing with a lot"

"Huh?"

"He seems to be slowly going insane".

"What are you talking about??"

"I was there back at the cafe"

"So did you just follow me out?"

"Yeah, I did. You both seem to have a...malevolent aura around yourselves. That caught my eyes."

"What's your point?" Tristan gets pissed.

"I am a Shaman. I can see what others can't see."

"What bullshit?" By now Tristan was convinced that this man was a complete scammer, and he decides to walk away.

But the man then says...

"You must be thinking that you are different now."

"But that's not true. You will end up just like him..."

"The curse isn't lifted yet"

Tristan stops in his tracks.

"What goes around comes around"

"The guilt will definitely return and make you regret ever being alive".

"And then that guilt will become your god..."

"Dictating your life, until the day you die".

Tristan starts to run, never looking back.
