Lily Of The Valley

Maddie's POV:

As she finished, I felt my heart drop. This poor girl has been through so much and still can't get a break. I responded, saying that I was already here and asked if I could just get her room number, and she gave it to me.

I realized that her room was quite literally next door, so I thanked her and hung up, walking over and into the room, seeing Hannah, the nurse who was also with Eva, she was everyone's favorite because she was nice and actually cared about all of us, not just what she had to to do her job.

I realized that it made sense how I recognized her voice since she was in Eva's room a lot just to be with us sometimes when she would get a break, and we all loved her company.

"Hannah, hi, is she okay?" I asked, looking at Lily and taking her hand. "Oh, Maddie, this is a lot easier for me. Okay, she's doing good, surgery was a success and she should make a full recovery. She was attacked by the wife of the guy who sexually assaulted her and stabbed twelve times, but everything is fine now, medically at least."

When she explained what happened I felt really bad. This poor girl deserved so much better, and I knew that I had to help her. I thanked Hannah and asked if she could stay with Lily for a minute and she agreed.

I walked back to Eva's room and she asked who called me. "It was Hannah, but you remember that girl I told you about, the one I gave my number to? Yeah, the wife of the guy who did that to her attacked her, and she's here in the hospital, literally right there next door." I said, pointing to where her room was.

"What, is she okay?" She asked, and I nodded, "Hannah said her surgery was a success and that she'd be fine, so that's good. But anyways, I just came to tell you and ask if you'd mind if I stayed with her?" I asked, and Eva shook her head.

"No, go be with her, I've got these idiots, that girl needs you." She said, and I nodded, hugging her before I grabbed some of my stuff and walked back over, thanking Hannah for staying as she walked out.

I set my stuff down and sat next to the bed, holding Lily's hand as I did, hoping that she would wake up soon. The more I looked at her, the more she reminded me of Eva when she was younger.

I could tell that her hair was dyed since her roots were staring to grow, showing her natural blonde hair, and it was cut short like Eva used to have it. Seeing Eva in Lily made me both happy and sad at the same time.

I stayed there for a couple hours, Eddie and Ravi each coming in at one point to see me and ask how I was doing, and I'd say considering the circumstances I was doing pretty well. They also brought me food since I didn't want to leave Lily by herself.

A couple hours later she woke up, and when she started moving I stood up, holding her hand as I looked to her face. When she opened her eyes she was confused since she didn't know who I was, so she asked.

"Hi Lily, I'm Maddie, I'm the one who took your call the other day, do you remember that?" I asked, reaching up to move some hair out of her face. She nodded and asked what happened to her. "You got stabbed, a lot, do you remember anything?" I asked, and she nodded again.

"It was my mother, her new husband is the one who was hurting me and Emma, but she didn't believe me whenever I would tell her. She would always say that I was lying and making it up for attention just because I didn't like him." She said before I saw her realize something and sit up.

She looked like she was about to cry so I asked her what was wrong. "My sister, Emma, where is she?" She asked, and I didn't know so I told her I'd ask. She nodded and I walked out to the hallway, finding Hannah and asking her if Lily's sister was here too.

"No, it was just her, she has a sister?" Hannah said, and I thanked her, walking back into the room and grabbing my phone. "What happened, where is she?" Lily asked, and I looked up at her and grabbed her hand again. "She wasn't brought in, but I'm going to find her, don't worry okay?" I said, and she nodded, so I walked back out to the hall and called Athena.

"Hey Maddie, how's Buck?" She asked when she answered, and I said, "she's fine, but I need a favor. There's a girl that I took a call for, her mother's husband, her stepfather, had been assaulting her and her sister, cops picked him up, all was good. Then her mother attacked her, she was brought in to the hospital, she's doing good, but we have no clue where her sister is." I said, and Athena said she was on her way and hung up, so I went back to Lily's room and stayed there until Athena got there.

When I heard her in Eva's room I got up, telling Lily I'd be right back, and went to get Athena. I walked in and Eva pointed to me so I assumed Athena asked where I was. She turned around and I greeted her, bringing her to Lily's room.

"Lily, this is my friend Athena, she's a police officer, and she's going to help me find Emma." I said, and Lily nodded, looking to Athena and waving. Athena walked over and sat next to the bed and started asking Lily a few questions, mostly about what Emma looked like and things like that.

When she was done, she thanked Lily and said she'd do her best to find her, then she turned to me and said she'd keep me updated, so I thanked her and she left. I sat down in my chair again and Lily looked like she wanted to ask something but didn't know if she could.

"Is everything okay, do you need anything?" I asked, and she nodded. "I just wanted to know if you could do something for me?" She asked, and I smiled, "I can try, what do you need?" I asked, standing up and sitting on the side of her bed.

"Would it be okay if you laid with me? I know it's a lot to ask but I really need someone to do it." She said, and I grabbed her hand, looking at her as I smiled. "Of course, don't worry about it," I said, and she smiled, carefully moving over as I helped her.

I laid down next to her and put my arms around her as she laid her head on my chest. I put my hand in her hair as she wrapped her arms around me as well. She began falling asleep shortly after and I let her, after the last few days she's had, she deserves some rest.

A little while later Athena messaged me and told me they found Emma and that she looked fine but they were bringing her to the hospital just to be safe. I thanked her and set my phone down, putting my arm back around Lily as she continued sleeping.

A couple hours later Athena walked in with Emma, and I smiled at her. "Hi Emma, I'm Maddie, I helped your sister, how are you?" I said, sitting up slightly as Lily tightened her grip around me.

"Okay, she won't let go of me, but feel free to come here, I don't mind, it's alright." She looked up to Athena and she nodded, so Emma walked over carefully, climbing onto the bed on the other side of Lily and wrapping her arms around her.

When Lily felt Emma's arms around her, she lifted her head, turning around carefully, and when she saw Emma, she started crying and wrapped her arms around her too, both of them holding each other as they cried.

I carefully got off the bed, giving the two room to be together as I walked over to Athena, asking what happened to her. "We found her walking around, she said she was trying to find her way home. Apparently the mother dropped her about an hour away, saying that she didn't deserve to be driven around and needed to find her own way back."

"That's awful, have you guys found the mother?" I asked, looking back at the girls who were falling asleep in each other's arms. "No, not yet, but they're looking," she said, and I nodded, thanking her.

She hugged me and said that I should get some sleep, and I did the same. She walked out and went to say bye to Eva, so I walked over to sit next to the girls, looking at them and knowing that I had to keep them safe, and that I would.

They would no longer worry about being hurt, I would keep them safe. They would no longer worry about being alone, I would be with them. Anything they ever worried about, I would fix it, and I would be there for them.

Sorry for the short chapter chat, if I remember correctly it's because I wrote too much and ended up having to split it and they ended up being pretty short when I did, but I hope you enjoyed regardless :3
