Serena woke up to the soft light filtering through her curtains, feeling the warmth of the morning sun on her face. Stretching her arms above her head, she let out a contented sigh, relishing the peacefulness of the early hour. With a gentle smile, she rose from her bed and began her morning routine, humming softly to herself as she got ready for the day ahead.

Downstairs in the cozy kitchen, Serena's grandmother was already busy preparing breakfast, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee filling the air. "Good morning, my dear," her grandmother greeted her with a warm smile. "Did you sleep well?"

Serena returned the smile, the familiar sight of her grandmother filling her with a sense of comfort and security. "Yes, Grandma, I slept like a log," she replied, pulling out a chair at the kitchen table and sitting down to join her.

Over breakfast, Serena's grandmother regaled her with stories of days gone by, sharing memories of her own youth and imparting words of wisdom to her beloved granddaughter. Serena listened attentively, soaking in the warmth and love that surrounded her, grateful for the simple joys of family and home.

After breakfast, she bid her grandmother farewell and set off for the restaurant where she worked as a waitress. It was a modest establishment, nestled in the heart of the bustling city, but to her, it felt like a second home.

Upon arriving at the restaurant, she was greeted by the familiar sights and sounds of the busy morning rush. Her two friends, Lily and Sarah, waved enthusiastically from across the room, their faces alight with mischief as they beckoned her over.

"Hey, Serena ! You're running late again!" Lily teased, a playful glint in her eye.

She chuckled softly, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "You know me, always fashionably late," she quipped, joining her friends at their table and slipping into her apron in preparation for the day ahead.

As the morning wore on, she moved gracefully between tables, taking orders and delivering meals with practiced ease. Despite the chaos of the restaurant, she remained calm and composed, her gentle demeanor earning her the admiration of both customers and coworkers alike.

During a brief lull in the rush, Lily and Sarah sidled up to her, their expressions mischievous as they teased her about finding a boyfriend.

"Come on, Serena , you're too pretty to be single!" Sarah exclaimed, her eyes dancing with mischief.

Serena laughed softly, shaking her head in amusement. "You two know I'm not interested in all that," she replied, her tone gentle but firm. "I'm focused on my work and my family right now. Besides, I believe in finding love through marriage, not before."

Her friends exchanged amused glances before shrugging in resignation. They knew Serena well enough to understand that she was set in her ways, her values and beliefs guiding her every decision.

Lily nudged Sarah with a playful smirk. "Looks like Serena's going to be the last one of us to settle down," she teased, earning a playful swat from Serena in return.

Sarah laughed, her eyes twinkling with mischief. "Well, if that's what makes her happy, who are we to judge?" she remarked, raising her coffee cup in a mock toast.

"But seriously, Serena ," Lily chimed in, her tone turning more serious. "Don't you ever feel like you're missing out? I mean, you're young, beautiful, you could have any guy you want!"

Serena's smile softened, a hint of sadness flickering in her eyes. "It's not that I don't know about all those things," she explained gently. "I see how much fun you two have, and I'm happy for you. But for me, I want something different. I want a life where my future husband is my priority, where he gets all my attention and love. And that's what I expect from him too."

She paused, taking a moment to gather her thoughts. "It's not just about my beliefs, although they are important to me. It's about knowing what I want in life and staying true to myself, even if it means taking a different path from everyone else."

Her friends nodded understandingly, their playful expressions softening with empathy. They may not fully comprehend her choices, but they respected her right to live her life on her own terms.

And so, the morning passed in a flurry of activity, each moment filled with laughter, camaraderie, and the comforting familiarity of routine. As she bid farewell to her friends and coworkers at the end of her shift, she couldn't help but feel grateful for the simple joys that filled her life.

Little did she know, her world was about to be turned upside down by a chance encounter that would challenge everything she thought she knew about love, life, and the power of resilience.
