Nate's POV:As he lay in bed, Nate's thoughts raced, He couldn't understand why his father was so insistent on him settling down, especially when he had made it clear that he wasn't interested in marriage. His frustration with his parents' expectations consuming him. He couldn't fathom the idea of settling down with one woman for the rest of his life, not when he had the freedom to live as he pleased. The thought of marriage filled him with dread, the prospect of loyalty and commitment overwhelming him.
Nate knew he was a difficult man to live with, his short temper and volatile nature making him unsuitable for a long-term relationship. He loved his way of life, the freedom to do as he pleased without having to answer to anyone. The thought of giving up his independence for the sake of marriage was unthinkable.
With a heavy sigh, Nate closed his eyes, his mind still consumed by the events of the day. Despite his exhaustion, sleep eluded him, his thoughts racing as he tried to make sense of his parents' expectations.
Serena's POV:
As the morning passed, the conversation turned to the previous night's events at the club. Sarah and Lily couldn't help but laugh as they recounted the story of serena rushing to Sarah's rescue, her oversized T-shirt and pajama pants a stark contrast to the clubgoers' revealing outfits.
"You were like a mother!" Lily exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with amusement.
"I was just worried about Sarah," she mumbled, her gaze dropping to the floor. "You know how much I care about you guys"
Sarah reached out to squeeze Serena's hand, her expression softening with gratitude. "And I'm so grateful for that serena . You're the best friend a girl could ask for."
Serena's heart swelled with warmth, her embarrassment fading in the face of her friends' affection. "Thanks, guys. I appreciate it."
As the morning rush subsided, Lily and Sarah turned to serena with a mischievous glint in their eyes. "So, serena, we were thinking...why don't you come to the club with us tonight?"
Serena's eyes widened in surprise, her heart racing at the thought of returning to the club. "What made you guys think I would go to the club."
Lily and Sarah exchanged knowing glances before turning back to serena, their expressions determined. "Come on! It'll be fun! You can keep an eye on us, and we promise not to set you up with any guys."
Serena hesitated, her mind racing as she considered their offer. She knew she was being overprotective, her worry for her friends overshadowing her own discomfort. With a deep breath, she nodded, her heart pounding in her chest.
"Okay, fine. I'll come to the club with you tonight. But no setting me up with any guys, got it?"
Lily and Sarah grinned, their eyes sparkling with mischief. "Deal!" they exclaimed in unison, their laughter filling the air.
And so, the morning passed in a flurry of activity, each moment filled with laughter, camaraderie, and the comforting familiarity of routine. As serena bid farewell to her friends and coworkers at the end of her shift, she couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation, her heart filled with the promise of a new adventure.
