I stumble into the apartment at 12 in the morning still on a phone call with Drea she was currently tracking my location making sure I was safe and the Uber wasn't taking me anywhere else.
My footsteps falter when I see Devon sleeping on the couch his phone was laying on the floor next to his hand and his locs were up in a loose ponytail, I tilt my head at him feeling ashamed that I had lied to him earlier.
"I'm home Drea, I'll call you in the morning."
"Alright bye I love you," I say 'I love you too' then we end the call, I place my phone on the counter and walk up to him before softly tapping his shoulder, he wakes up almost startled when he realizes that it's me he slowly sits up on the couch rubbing a hand down his face.
"Where were you?" he asks his voice was soft but rough and raspy.
"I told you I- I was at Drea's," I say looking away from him, "Get up let's go to bed."
"Nah you not gon' lie to me, where the hell were you?"
"Devon-" I can't even finish my sentence because he gets up from the couch, I breathe out looking down at my feet.
He takes a hold of my chin forcing me to look into his dark brown eyes, "Milani you don't have to lie to me I promise you I don't give a fuck."
Then stop asking me.
I turn my head and walk away from him, I go to the guest room and before I can close the door, he slips in, "Milani where the hell were you!" he yells, I jump a little.
"I thought you didn't give a fuck?" I say quietly lifting my shirt above my head.
"Imma ask you one more time and if you don't answer me you gon' regret it, Where the fuck were you," he says serious than ever.
"I was at Kyle's," his shoulders tense and I shut my eyes regretting it instantly.
"What were you doing at Kyle's?"
"W- we were working-" he cuts me off.
"Don't lie to me."
"He called me over because he wanted to ask a question," I tell him the truth partly.
Please don't ask me what question-.
"What question?" I sigh.
"Nothing important," I shrug going into the bathroom, he follows me.
"What was the question Milani?" He stares down at me a frown edged on his face.
"He wanted to know if my father could give him a job, he needs to pay for his mother's chemo," I tell the truth, his shoulders drop "I told you it had nothing to do with you."
I push him out of the bathroom and lock it, I shut my eyes feeling guilty that I just gave Kyle's secret away, I vowed to not tell anyone especially Devon and now he knows.
