Snow Day ❄️

Kai hates winter. Now, this may seem unreasonable, considering that he is basically a portable heater, but he got unusually cold during winter even though his body still radiated heat. Kinda like having a cold.

Also, it brings back some memories he would quite like to forget.

Nya shook her head in amusement. Was she really watching a grown adult, her boyfriend, press his face up on the window so hard that you could practically see the insides of his nose. Of course she was.

'AAH, NYA IT'S SNOWING!'

Nya barely managed to not roll her eyes. It was just some snow. They had a literal ice ninja in the Bounty for gods sake.

'Yeah yeah, Jay, can we please get a move on! We're going to miss our lunch reservation!'

'But Nyaaa!' Jay whined. Nya could seriously not believe this man. They'd paid good money for that reservation!

'It barely snows! You know global warming and stuff.. We might never play in snow again!'

Nya couldn't help but smile at the childish grin on his face. Ugh Jay and his convincing-ness!

'Ah fine..' Nya gave in. Jay's face somehow brightens even more. He runs to the door, but Nya quickly grabs him by the back of his collar

'But you better wrap up! Go get gloves, hats, scarves, and coats!' She demanded. Jay shot her a goofy smile back, then rushed off the other direction to get the smarter choice of clothing than Crocs.

Kai groaned and turned over in his bed. Wow. It was 2 p.m already? He couldn't use the beauty sleep excuse this time...
He got up and didn't have the willpower to fix his bed right now. 'Later',  he thought.

Tiredly, he tramped down to the kitchen, and took some of the leftovers of Zane's cooking from last night. There was already a Christmas wreath on the fridge door. Kai sighed. Probably Lloyd.

'Hiya Kai,' greeted Cole. He glanced down at the tired looking fire ninja. He didn't look too good.

'Hey, you feelin' alright?' He asked, crouching down at the table to be level with Kai. Kai dismissively waved his hand.

'I'm good, I'm good, it's just that time of year, y'know.' At that moment, Kai tried to stifle a yawn, though not doing a very good job. He got up from the table to put his plate in the dishwasher.

'Hey, did you notice it's snowing?' Cole tried to make conversation with the usually chatty ninja, but it seemed like all the life had gotten sucked out of him. Kai let out a dry laugh.

'Yeah, obviously I realised the thing that's making me feel like shit, boulder brain.' Ouch.

And with that, Kai went back to his room.

On his way back, he bumped into Jay, who had his arms full of wintery accessories. Some hats and gloves descended down to the floor, as well as a pair of..reindeer antlers?

'What are you doing with all these?'

'I'm going outside with Nya!' Jay excitedly exclaimed, his eyes sparkling.

Kai hadn't played with Nya in the snow for a few years at the least. Why would she with Jay? Kai felt a hint of jealousy creep into his chest.

'Oh.. alright. Have fun I guess.' Kai started to make his way to his room again when Jay grabbed his arm.

'Wait! Don't you wanna come with us?'

Kai thought about it. It would be some nice bonding time with Nya if Jay isn't following her around like a lost puppy. He supposed it could be some nice bonding time with a certain other ninja too..

'Ok, sure!' Kai replied, feeling a bit more happier than earlier. He walked slightly more faster, and when he couldn't see Jay anymore, he ran! Hurriedly he pulled on some winter attire that Nya should approve of. Even.. a hat! He hadn't even done his hair that afternoon anyway, surprisingly.

Most of them were already outside, except for Cole, who had waited for him. And who looked surprisingly good in snow wear.

'Ready to go, hairgel?' Kai laughed slightly.

'Actually, I'm not even wearing hair gel right now, so your joke doesn't work today buddy!'

Cole fake pouted, though he was glad Kai seemed to be back to his perky-self.

'Hmph, ok then.. RACE YA!' shouted Cole, and ran off into the crisp fresh snow, Kai following closely behind.

'Hah I bet you!' teased Kai. Cole groaned.

'How are you so goddamn fast?'

'Skill.' The red ninja smirked. Suddenly a snowball came flying from out of nowhere and smacked him right on the back of the head.

'AH! FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK' Kai screamed, as snow slid down his back. Jay and Cole were both laughing their asses off, while Lloyd stood with a smirk on his face.

'OH, I'M SO GETTING YOU GUYS BACK!'

As you could probably guess, a snowball fight had now ensued. Lloyd, Jay and Cole on one team and Kai, Nya and Zane on the other.

Kai momentarily wished he could pause this exact moment and save it forever into his mind. Everyone was happy and safe and protected. Nothing like the snow days in his earlier childhood.

Cole was just about to hit Kai with a mountain of snow, but Jay hit Kai instead and resulted in Kai landing on top of him in a pile of snow. And with that, Cole felt his face warming up despite the weather.

Once the snowball fight has resided, the Ninja decided to make a huge snowman, while Nya also made a massive snow woman. They were both almost six feet tall, and Kai lifted up Lloyd to put the carrot nose, with Zane watching to make sure Lloyd didn't fall.

Pixal came outside with mugs of hot chocolate for all of them.

'Ooh! Thanks, Pixal!' Lloyd said, thanking their robot friend and taking a huge gulp.

'Guys, it's getting pretty chilly out here, let's go back inside now.' Suggested Nya, much to the disappointment of her boyfriend.

'Nya's right! No one wants to get sick now, with Christmas coming and all.' Cole agreed, subconsciously wrapping an arm around Kai's shoulders. Luckily, the fire ninja didn't seem to mind, his cheeks flushed and clutching his hot chocolate.

They all headed back inside, all wet and shivering, with big smiles on their glowing faces.

'So, who wants to put up the Christmas tree?'
