Listen to some music while you're at it.

''Okay Sonic! I think it's about done! What world do you want to visit first?'' Tails finished upgrading the beautiful Prisim shard, its variety of colors shining the cave oh so lightly. It has only taken him a few days-nothing out of the ordinary for him.

''Are you.. sure this is going to work? I won't lose ya again, right, bud?'' Sonic raised a brow as he eyed Tails. He didn't want their entire existence and Greenhill to shatter again, and it would take him ages to get back. It had been a month since he had seen anyone from the other dimensions, the Boscage Maze, No Place, and New Yoke City.

''I'm certain, Sonic. As far as you should be concerned, there's like a one percent chance of you not being able to get back, but that's a possibility out of 99, and-''

''Yeah, yeah, I know.'' Sonic took one more look at the shard and then back at Tails. He quickly hugged him in case something were to happen. ''I just don't wanna lose you guys again..''

Tails patted his back. ''Relax. It'll be fine, trust me. Like you always do.'' Tails smiled as Sonic did the same. He waved one last time to his best friend as he smashed into the Shard, teleporting into the void.

'Crap. He forgot to tell me where he was going to visit first.. Well, I guess I'll find out soon enough. Tails thought to himself and then walked away from the prism shard and out of the cave, going to see the rest of the gang while he waited for his brother to come back.

The void seemed just like it had been before-black, like a galaxy, with torn spots of the universe showing. And there sat the dimensions; one stood out: New Yoke City. The one place where he actually formed somewhat of a decent bond with someone. Even though they had fought and were previous enemies, he didn't feel bothered by it. He still knew he had a bit of his brother in him.

''All right, Nine! Here I come!'' He spin dashed super fast into the New Yoke dimension, entering and landing himself on the city floor (he was prepared for it this time). Nothing seemed different, but a few trees lay in sight. Maybe the greedy Choas Council finally decided it was best to have some air and breathe for once. Things seemed to have gotten better over the past month, people didn't seem as miserable, and they were actually running around and having fun. Everything looked more cheerful, even though it was just a tiny bit. Sonic smiled as he ran through the sights of a few happy people here and there, smiling gleefully back at him. It didn't hurt as much to see not so many miserable people around like before. It was.. somewhat enjoyable, even in New Yoke City. Even with the Choas council possibly still in power, things felt nicer.

The blue hedgehog dashed across the city, but to his eyes, everything seemed in slow-motion. He took in the environment around him, trying to catch sight of Nine's lab. Eventually, after a few minutes, he found it. New Yoke was pretty big after all.

When he arrived at Nine's lab, he made sure of his surroundings just in case Nine popped up out of nowhere and tried to attack him and have a train battle like when they first met. Maybe the world all reset again? All these thoughts filled Sonic's head as he tapped in the numbers ''1992'' into the code box. Sonic sighed in relief. It still worked, classic Nine, he was just like Tails.

The lab's door opened, and Sonic entered the lab once more, only to see Nine sitting in the same spinny chair, the same scene from when they met. Oh no, is it happening all over again-? Is this some kind of weird DIGITAL CIRCUS? (MAUHAUHAUHA)

''Hey-'' Before the blue blur could say anything else, Nine's entire body twitched like a cat, except he was a fox. He jumped off his spinny chair, which caused it to spin, and he pressed the button on his stomach, revealing his seven spider-like robotic arms, ready to attack. But when he noticed it was just Sonic, just like before, instead of attacking, his mouth opened slightly, arms to side, a shocked look gazed over his face.

''S-Sonic?! How-?'' Yet again, before Nine could question it, Sonic dashed towards him, grabbing him and going in for a tight hug. Nine hugged him back, still a bit confused. Sonic let it stay for a bit, afterall they haven't seen each other in a month. He then moved his hands down his hips and pulled back, saying hello. Nine winced in pain from the sudden touch, and as a reaction, he pushed Sonic away. He flinched as he crossed his arms. He looked to be in pain.

''Buddy-?''

''Stop.'' He put a hand out. ''It hurts there.''

Without thinking, Sonic questioned it: ''Can I ask why-'' And without hesitation, Nine lifted his shirt to show two scars alongside his hips. It seemed like they had been there for a long time, eventually becoming part of him. He quickly put the shirt back down in embarrassment.

''Thats why.''

Sonic's face then saddened, feeling remourseful for the young fox. He stepped towards him. ''What.. happened?''

And again, with just slight hesitation and a few ten seconds of silence, Nine spoke up. ''The beatings, that I told you about. That's what happened.'' Nine slowly shrugged it off and walked over to his desk, no longer looking sad and instead trying to be more serious and mature.

''Whatever. Can you just explain to me how you even got here?'' He sat down in his other regular chair and started sucking on an orange juice box, just like before. He did this a lot, however.

''Well, Tails-you-from my world figured out how to like, somehow upgrade the Prisim Shard for me to be able to visit you.'' He grinned, explaining how smart his other fox friend was. It started to make him a bit jealous.

''Hm. So your fox, who's actually fond of his tails, is that smart, huh?'' His eyelids dropped, making some what of an impressed expression, but he was still annoyed by Tails' abilities.

''Yeah! Just like you. And you should puff up your tails like the other Tails do, it's good self-confidence.'' He gave him a thumps up, and did his singuatre wink. Classic Sonic.

''Well, unlike your buddy, I didn't have the support growing up, so I didn't learn to like them all that much.''

''Forget what those bullies say, they're wrong! And I'll teach you how to think the same way. You're way cooler than them, just look at you!''

But Nine didn't want to look at himself, he refused to look in the mirror, in fact, he even got rid of it so he didn't have to see himself every morning. The only thing he liked about himself was his robotic arms, and those weren't even a real feature. It was pointless, he refused to believe his only friend.

Sonic walked over to Nine and placed his arms around him, this time not touching his sore waist.

''You've been through a lot, little buddy..'' He frowned and sighed. ''Let it all out.''

He didn't listen, but soon he began to slowly cry in Sonic's arms. They then turned to sobs. He never felt comfort like this in his life-never a chance to let out all the pain, never the support of at least one friend. He's never had something like this. He was finally thankful-thankful for having his first ever friend. And now, maybe he even considered him a brother.

''Thank you, friend..''

(THIS IS SO WHOLESOME IM SORRY FOR MAKING YOU ALL CRY 😭😭)
