"Do you seriously still need me to tuck you in?"

Tails big brother, Sonic asked as he laid comfortable in his soft blankets in bed. He yawned as Sonic tucked him in. Even though he was getting older and was now 12 and a half, he still sometimes wanted his big brother to tuck him in. This was the first time he asked in about a week, so Sonic had thought that Tails didn't need to be tucked in anymore, but to his suprise, he still wanted to.

Tails giggled. "Heh, I guess I do. Goodnight, Sonic."

Sonic finished tucking him in and pulled down on the lamps switch, turning its bright light off.

"Goodnight, buddy."

Sonic then walked up their houses spiral staircase and entered his room. It was dirty as usaul, but he didn't care to avoid all the dirty socks that lay on the floor. Tails did however. He couldn't stand any room being messy. That's why the other rooms in the house were almost spotless and organized. If it wasn't for Tails, the entire house would look like a tornado had hit the place if left alone with Sonic.

The blue hedgehog hopped on his bed and went to sleep in the most weirdest sleeping position yet.

--

Tails woke up in a cold sweat, his heart pounding in his little chest. His eyes were wide in fear, but he wasn't sure why. He didn't have a nightmare, so what was the problem? He looked around his room, nothing out of the ordinary to see. His bookshelves, his working/inventing station. Nothing seemed to have changed. He was terrified for no reason.

He looked at the alarm clock on his nightstand, which read that the time was 3:11 AM. What a horrible time to wake up.

He closed his eyes and let out a loud sigh as he tried to relax comfortably in his bed. How was he going to get back to sleep?

He squeezed his eyelids tighter when he felt a horrible feeling wash over him.

He could smell it.
The fire.
The smoke.

It was in the room with him.

He opened his eyes quickly and was soon horrified by the flaming lights of the fire surrounding his bed. It's beautiful colors of red, orange, and yellow sparked through the smoke. He let out a scream, and his eyes grew wide.

The first thing he could think of was his brother, Sonic. He was upstairs. He needed to get him out of the house with him. He jumped off his bed and ran closer to the stairs, but stopped when more flames covered the staircase. He screamed again, this time louder.

He ran through the smoke and past the fire towards the front door. He tried opening it, but it wasn't budging a single bit. Sweat dripped down his face, and his entire body. He was overheating in the flames, he needed to get out!

He punched.
He kicked.

But still, the door wouldn't open in the slightest. He had tried everything.

He banged on the door, tears and sweat rolling down his face. He screamed as loud as his little voice could.

"HELP ME! LET ME OUT!"

His body sank to the floor as the flames got closer and closer.

"I DON'T WANNA DIE!"

He gasped all the breath into his mouth when he felt arms wrap around him. He turned his head around to see Sonic. His brother wasn't dead. He was alive. He was going to burn with him. They were going to burn together, as brothers.

"SONIC!!" He was snapped out of his fear when he spoke.

"Tails! What's going on?!" He shook his little brother, who was now paralyzed in fear.

He looked around the two of them and realized there was no fire, no flames, and no bright colors. And the room was completely fine. He wasn't going to die. Nor was Sonic.

More tears would fall down his muzzle, and he gripped onto Sonic's body. His eyes were still wide in fear. He looked over his back. Everything was peaceful. Quiet.

Sonic then rubbed his ungloved hands up and down Tails' fur. He caressed behind his ear in a soothing way, trying to relax Tails' trembling body as much as possible.

"Shh.. it's okay, bud. Everything's okay." Sonic reassured his little brother.

Tails slowly became more relaxed as Sonic's hands caressed his head. They were both still kneeled down on the floor, and Tails was still tightly gripping onto Sonic like a baby, but it didn't hurt the hedgehog in the slightest.

Moments of silence surpassed the time of the night.

"..You okay now, bro?" Sonic asked, and Tails untightened his grip.

They both let go of each other and stood up.

"Yeah..." Tails held onto his other arm in embarrassment.

"Sorry I woke you up, I think I'm starting to see things.."

Sonic lowered his eyebrows in annoyance. "Its because you're up late every night. Times a 12 year old should never be up at."

Tails rolled his eyes. "Yeah, yeah."

"Can you tuck me in again?" Tails asked, still avoiding eye contact from the slight embarrassment.

Sonic sighed. "I guess so."

They both walked to Tails bed, and Sonic tucked him in for the second time this night.

"Goodnight, bro." Sonic yawned.

"Night night." Tails yawned as well.

Just before Sonic was about to make it 2 steps up the spiral staircase, Tails made him stop.

"Love you, big brother." Tails smiled tiredly and got comfortable in his bed. His eyes closed, and he yawned once more.

Sonic lowered his eyebrows and smiled.

"Love ya too, buddy."
