Creating a character is so important and fun! This week I had an idea to share a list of fun activities you can do to help make your characters more realistic and less robotic. Add this book to your library so you can refer to this chapter in the future! The aesthetic theme is spring flowers and the pictures are screenshots from Pinterest.

Drawing your characters is a bonus if you love art.Activity #2 Milanote
Milanote is a free online tool which is so helpful for character building and story outlining. There's limited space in the free version but that doesn't mean paying for the premium version is worth it. Save your money! I don't want to advertise but you have to give it a chance because it's organized and gives a clear visual of your ideas. However, if you prefer to record everything in a notebook, I'll share a list of what Milanote offers in its character boards.
-Characteristics
-Quirks and Flaws
-Backstory (I find it easier to answer this after I've started writing the book)
-Character Arc
-Options to upload pics and links
-Documents for Extra InfoActivity #3 Favourite Things (Once again answer the following in the comments because why not?)
-hobbies and/or sports
-food

-smell
-person
-famous person
-song
-music genre
-movie
-time of day
-way of passing time
-what makes them happy?
-What makes them sad or angry?
-add more questions here-
Answer these in the negative as well for example least favourite food or hates the smell of... This activity isn't essential but you may find it helpful for finding something to write about if you run into writer's block.
Activity #4 Diary
Step into the mind of your character and use their hand to write a diary or journal about their everyday life. This is a fun way to better understand their views of the world, their opinions on the main character or side characters, their struggles and motivations in life, what gets them out of bed in the morning, why they make the decisions they make in the story, and so many more. This is my favourite activity and it's a fun way to bring characters to life. If you're interested I can edit and share one of my character's journals in another chapter.Activity #5 Self-introduction
Same as the diary activity but this time it's a basic self-introduction. A self-introduction may include character's family, school or occupation, life goals, and favourite things.Hope you had as much fun with this week as I had writing it! I appreciate every one of you and don't forget to write your hearts out everyday!
Question of the week: what's your favourite clothing style?
