After Harry was satisfied with the explanation, he says that he should go after Ron and make sure that he is alright, as well as try to explain it to him. Ginny says she will go home with him and they both pass on their goodbyes.
That leaves me and Blaise to talk to each other for a bit.
"So, this is going to sound like a weird question but do I call you Hermione or Mia?" He asks.
"You can call me whatever you would feel better calling me," I reply to him.
"Then another question. This is less weird but more direct. Would you like to meet our mother?"
I contemplate it and decide that I may as well. I wasn't exactly prepared to meet Blaise today but it didn't go bad, apart from the whole Ron meltdown, but how often do those happen anyway?
"Yeah, I think I want to" I respond.
We stand up and I take Blaise's hand. Blaise leads me through an apparition and then suddenly we're outside of a grand house, it looks slightly old but still cosy. This made me all kinds of thankful that it wasn't anything daunting and cold.
As I look up at what is technically my family home, and I start to shake slightly. My palms get a little bit sweaty and achey as I realise just how nervous I am.
"Mia? Mia, are you okay? We don't have to go in. I'm sorry but I just wanted - it doesn't matter we can do this later. Or not at all?" Blaise stammers nervously.
"N-no. I'm fine, it's just I'm about to meet my mother. She gave me away Blaise, what if I'm not what she wanted." I stay, trying to calm myself down.
We walk through the gates and my heart is going a mile a minute while we walk up the path which is probably one of the longest paths I have ever trekked before. We reached the door and the big wooden door was accented with a grand knocker. Without needing to be welcomed, Blaise opened the door and I followed into the hallway.
I didn't know what to expect. Baring in mind my only experiences in a pure-blood house is far from pleasant, but the house didn't give homely vibes. This home does and it is like a proper family home.
As I look around in awe of the majestic but homely environment, I missed Blaise shouting for our mother. Once I gain some sort of awareness to my surroundings as I look at the top of the staircase and there was a woman at the top and I instantly knew this was my mother. She had similarities to both myself and Blaise.
"Oh my Merlin. I had lost hope, you're here. My daughter!" The woman, my mother, rushes down the stairs and before I even have time to say anything back she engulfs me in a hug. A motherly hug, so tight and powerful I could've burst into tears there and then.
I was commandeered away by my mother. Next thing I knew I was in the living room, and she was asking me about my life. I explained that I grew up as a muggle, and that I was loved. My parents are in Australia but they don't know who I am because I had to save them from Voldemort. I also had to apologise multiple times because Blaise and my mother kept flinching when I said the name.
I left out the undergoing torture, the starvation for months while we were struggling to defeat You-Know-Who.
My mother looked amazed and bewildered over who I was and everything I had done. Of course she knew I was Hermione Granger and she had heard about her. But what was published and what was broadcasted is not the full truth. Not that I gave them the full truth anyway.
I asked about my father. I asked how he passed away. He died 2 years after Blaise and I was born. Just after Voldemort had disappeared, when the aurors were after the death eaters, my father sacrificed himself for the life of an auror. Luckily for my mother, no one knew what had really happened so when Voldemort had returned, my mother was "under his protection" of sorts.
After we had conversed about almost everything in our lives, my mother holds my hand.
"I have a question. I was wondering if we could have a ball or something. Completely up to you, just so you can invite who you want to, and I can and Blaise. Just so we can merge our separate lives." My mother asks, which I thought was really progressive of her.
"I think that sounds like a lovely idea. But maybe something more casual, like a bonfire for everyone?"
"That sounds lovely. I would love to arrange this for the weekend." My mother says.
