I saw the back of my mother and her husband's head sitting next to my grandmother on the love couch. My sister turned to me and gave a weak smile.
"Hi baby brother." She spoke softly.

I gave half a smile as I walked to her and gave her a hug. I took a deep inhale of her soft flowery scent and her hair smelled like coconuts. I didn't even notice we were hugging that long until I heard "Damn boy. I hope you give your mama a hug like that."

I rolled my eyes before breaking away from the hug. I faced my mother's husband who was looking at me with a slight smug.

I took a seat in the recliner chair that was near the love seat.

"So you just not gone speak?" My mother said with an attitude.

"Hi." I said dryly.

"See this why you staying here now. Just unruly." She sucked her teeth and rolled her eyes.

I didn't respond to her.

"How you been sis?" I asked trying to change the topic of conversation.

"That's why we here ma." My mother said before my sister could speak.

"Your granddaughter got something to tell you."

My grandmother turned to my sister who I noticed now had tears streaming down her face.

"What happened? What's going on my baby?" My grandmother asked.

"I'm-I'm-" D'Asia stuttered.

"You what baby? Are you sick?"

"Shes pregnant ma! Your favorite grandchild is pregnant! At freaking 15!" My mother yelled in frustration.

I looked D'Asia over. I didn't even notice how wide her hips have gotten and how much weight she put on under the all black attire she was wearing.

"Oh honey!" My grandmother said causing D'Asia to burst out in tears.

"I don't know what she crying for now! I highly doubt she was crying when she was making that damn baby." My mother yelled.

"I personally think your daughter is overreacting." That punk of a husband said to my grandmother.

"Teenagers always having a pregnancy slip up. It happens." He shrugged.

My mother sucked her teeth and shook her head.

"Charles, my daughter has a right to be upset about this. But, most importantly D'Asia what are you going to do about it? It's your choice." My grandmother asked her.

"She gonna abort it! Or she gonna have to find another place to live!" My mother shouted.

"Sharon please. This is not the way to go about this." My grandmother pleaded.

"She don't even know who the father is!"

I glanced at D'Asia who was looking at me with pleading eyes. I raised a brow to her and glanced at Charles before looking at her again. She slightly nodded and I felt my fist shaking.

"How about this. I'm going to make some food real quick to ease the tension. Dee, come help me real quick."

I stared Charles down while I followed my grandmother.

"What's your problem staring my man down like that? You got a lot of nerves. From lying to now you think you too good to speak. Tuh!" My mother yelled after me.

Once I got in the kitchen, I saw my grandmother resting both of her hands on the counter with her head down.

"You alright grandma?"

"Yes baby. I will be." She said patting her eyes before pulling some leftovers out the oven.I nodded.

I know my grandmother gets very emotional anytime some family issues happen. That's why I do my best to stay out of trouble.

"Grandma...I think I know who's the father of D'Asia baby."

I watched as my grandmother froze at the counter with the food.

"Dee baby. Please. Not now. I know you're hurting for your sister but if you don't have evidence you cannot make those type of allegations."

I felt my jaw clenching as I walked out of the kitchen. I couldn't take another person not taken my word. When I stepped out the kitchen I noticed Charles were sitting next to my sister with his hand slipping between her leg as he whispered something to her. I saw she had her eyes closed tightly and tears formed around it. I slowly backed away towards the kitchen again until I bumped into someone. I turned to see my grandmother's stunned face looking at Charles and D'Asia.

"Dee...go to your room. Now." She said sternly.

Before I could reach my room I heard something smash and heard D'Asia scream. I can't lie, I had to go back and see what was going on. I came to see my grandmother breaking every dish and piece of furniture she could find onto Charles head.

"What's going on?" My mother yelled from behind me sounding bewildered.

"MOM! Mom stop! Mommy!" My mother yelled trying to stop her from beating on Charles.

Charles was still trying to cover his face and head but he was failing badly.

"Get your hands off of me Sharon! You been letting this man rape my grand baby?!" She yelled giving my mother the look of death.

"Wh-what? Mom no. Charles would never-"

"Charles would never what?! Huh?! You so dense behind this man you couldn't even see what he was doing to your daughter?!! I didn't raise you to be this pathetic behind a man!"

My mother looked stunned looking between Charles, my grandmother, D'Asia then finally me.

"You. You got into my mother's head-"

"Shut the fuck up and get the fuck outta my house Sharon! Now! I can't even look at you. You disgust me!" My grandmother said picking up a belt.

She waxed my mother behind all the way to the door. My mother finally fell at the front of the door balled up in fetus position. While my grandmother kept hitting her with the belt, I walked over to Charles and towered over him.

"Your-your-grandmother-a-cr-crazy-bitch. Shit. Your sister tasted good though-"

Before I knew it I was kicking and punching him until I saw blood. I felt hands trying to pull me off of him but it was to no avail. I heard my mother yelling after me which I couldn't fathom how. She should have still been getting beat. Then I finally heard her voice.

"D'Saniiiii! Grandma is calling you baby! Look at me! Look at me!"

The red in my vision suddenly started to fade and my grandmothers soft face appeared before me.

"Look at me baby. D'Asia is okay. Look at her. She's fine baby." She said rubbing both of my arms.

I looked to my right to see D'Asia soft smile on her face. She kissed my forehead before rubbing my back.

"I'm okay little brother. I'm not going nowhere. I'm here now." She said hugging me.

My grandmother gave me a smile and hugged me and D'Asia. While my mother bent down to check on Charles.
