Han Yeoreum really got closer to Ina in the little meetings before and after school they have. Yeoreum had bought her snacks to try here and there, and Ina had given Yeoreum her own input on which one she likes.

On some days, Yeoreum talks about her university life, and another day, they talk about the games that the two played. Ina had really made Yeoreum get hooked in the game she was playing. Sometimes after school they would hang out at a convenience store to play together.

And then the message came. It was a surprise for Yeoreum when she was invited to Ina's birthday party. Yeoreum's heart warmed as Ina made the effort to involve her. She quickly grabbed her bags and went out of her house, determined to get Ina presents that the young girl would like.

Ina's birthday finally came. Yeoreum had tried carrying everything that she prepared to the house across the street. She dressed nicer than usual, put on some make-up, and tried her best to look better.

She tidied her hair before she rung the doorbell. The gate immediately opened, and she saw Ina who was dressed simply for her own comfort.

"Ina! Happy birthday!" Yeoreum said excitedly as she tried hugging Ina, but she was carrying too much stuff. "I would hug you, but I'm carrying too much stuff. Care to help me?"

Ina smiled and took the bouquet from Yeoreum, shyly smelling the flowers.

"...Are these for me?"

"Eung, I hope you like them. I got you a bunch of stuff, let's open them when we get inside!"

Ina nodded and smiled, quite happy that she got presents on her first ever birthday party. She was reluctant to have one this year when her grandparents suggested it, but as her grandpa said that she could invite her friends, the first person that came into Ina's mind was Yeoreum. And Yeoreum of course went above and beyond.

Yeoreum's eyes travelled around in awe. The place was completely different from hers, and Yeoreum especially liked the greenery of the Bok Residence.

The two neared the house, and Ina opened the door for them. From the moment they got in the house, they could hear people arguing. Yeoreum had followed Ina from behind. As they neared the living room, the two of them could even hear what was the argument about.

Ina stopped as she saw the two adults fighting. They didn't even notice her. Yeoreum had looked at her worriedly and patted Ina's back with her free hand.

"Seyeon would have never died if she hadn't married you!" An old lady shouted. Yeoreum guessed that this was Ina's grandmother. And the old man on the side seemed to notice the two's arrival in worry.

A tall man who Yeoreum guessed was Ina's dad turned around. He was obviously looked like someone who had not been taking care of himself, with eyebags, unkempt hair, and scuffy looking clothes. Not that Yeoreum was to judge, but the man looked like he had been through a lot.

"I told you." Ina's grandma continued, "I told you I couldn't see a future for your marriage. But you went ahead and got her pregnant, saying you'd make your own future."

Yeoreum's eyes widened. She turned to Ina to console her, but Ina already looked like she was the source of pain for everything and everyone.
