Dave was currently pacing through a forest nonchalantly, his emotionless, deep red gaze coolly scanning the area that surrounded him. He was wearing a baggy, red hoodie which hung loosely off his shoulders and clung comfortably to his torso. He was also wearing some blue jeans he'd tugged on, and some white converse, which were obviously worn out along the front and edges. The forest he was cautiously exploring wasn't your typical forest that you'd take the kids out to have a picnic in, let's just say that.

The ground was pretty much level but rugged, the occasional tiny shrub that went past your ankle here and there. Thin, deep green grass which was lacking in height covered the dark terrain, the infectious plant leaving occasional blotches of bare dirt. Stubbornly rooted in the depths were conifers. Yes, the classical thin, long trunked ones with thin needle leaves only near the top of the plant. And to top it of? Fog. Heavy fog that enveloped Dave and strained his eyesight in an almost mocking manner.

Everything from the roots that tripped him up to the fucking air was mocking him.

Great.

He exhaled a strained, annoyance laced growl as he glanced about. The only reason he was venturing through such a place was due to the fact that he had a call claiming a Demon had caused a ruckus then had retreated to the very forest he was in. He hadn't asked for a description; he didn't usually need one. There were usually two types that could make it to this world;

The familiars, which were usually just disfigured earth animals mashed together with other random ones, weren't usually too much of a hassle. It didn't take a genius to decide that a giraffe like creature with two necks and wolf heads weren't exactly the norm.

The second type were a little harder to catch. They took on the look of a human; same structure, organs, features, everything. Usually however they had unusually bright eyes and noticeably sharper canines. A definite giveaway was wings. Most humanoid demons bore wings which they usually hit underneath a layer of skin on their back. The layer could grow back after a few hours to hide them, and this layer could be torn apart any minute by the user. It's usually a painless procedure. They had developed this feature to try and blend in as much as possible.

As for which type of demon he was currently hunting down he didn't know yet. He just presumed he'd know once he spotted it. It most likely wouldn't be hard to locate a humanoid one in this fog, with their glowing eyes and such. But the familiars would be harder, as they could hide amongst the fog. Good thing they usually weren't difficult to eradicate.

Abruptly a screech of a cry reverberated around the forest, causing him to cup his ears and clutch them in fear of his eardrums bursting. Once it stopped his hand flew to his sword, which was hidden comfortably in his sheath. He drew it in a classical movie gesture, in an arch as he quickly whipped around, the point facing the terrain as his eyes tore apart the scenery as he tried to spot where the sound was coming from.

Abruptly something huge appeared from the mist, like it's created from the fog it's self and it formed as if it was crafted from the air. His eyes widened as his gaze trailed up the creature. It had the body of the elephant, but was upright and didn't have the front legs of an elephant. It instead bore T-Rex like forearms, which were equipped with sharp looking talons. It also had a long, large scaled tail which draped behind it on the floor. It let out another screech and charged towards him.

Dave was totally unprepared.

He had never encountered a familiar so big. It was taller that the trees, and was pushing them out the way with it's short arms, the snapping and crackling of wood sending a shiver down his spine. It made it's way towards him, letting out desperate screeches as it neared him. Dave braced himself for impact, hugging his head against his chest as he fell to the floor, trying to protect himself.

The creature unleashed it's wrath in a loud screech and...
