It was a beautiful night, with stars twinkling above the sky and a light breeze flowing through. In the town's square, a small fair was laid out, filled with stalls selling snacks and games. There was a slight scent of popcorn and donuts in the air, which made walking by the stalls very appetizing.

William stood beside you, smiling as he watched you take in the sights and sounds of Crasmere's night fair. He could hear the laughter of children and people. He felt contentment with how the night went so far.

You look around for a moment, taking it all in. After living in London for almost your whole life, you never knew the pleasures of a town fair.

The town square was decorated beautifully for the fair. Lights and torches had been placed all around, and rides and stalls decorated the area. Everything looked beautiful.

William took in the sight of you, admiring the light of the torches and the fair illuminating your face as you looked around. The sounds of children and adults enjoying the festivities filled the air, the joy and laughter were infectious. He looks at you and smiles.

"Have you ever been to fairs?"

Your eyes look away from a couple of kids playing and looks at William.

"Few ones, all scattered along the year. But the way you asked seemed like you're from London as well."

William smiled, it was easy to tell he was from London. He had that certain je ne sais pas about him that every Londoner had, the confidence, and his mannerisms. Though unlike the typical flashy London man, he had a strong heart, and was a gentleman.

"Yeah, I lived there for a long time. But I moved here to get away from city life, and it's been a life saver so far."

"Really? I wouldn't have guessed you were from a big city."

William chuckled at that as he began to walk around the fair, passing by many things, until he reached a stand that sold fairground snacks, pretzels and hotdogs, among many other things.

"It's funny isn't it? People often forget that just because one has a certain demeanor, it doesn't mean that's where they're from. Like you for example, you look like a city girl, but you're not are you?"

You glance at the stand for a moment, lost in thought.

"Well, I am. Technically speaking. I was born and raised there."

You shrug.

"I thought I'd change the scenery. Stay here for a while."

William grabbed two hotdogs from the stand, handing one to you before biting into his. After taking a moment to chew, he spoke again, the conversation flowing easily between the two of you.

"Change of scenery, eh? I understand that. Though I have to ask, what brought you to Crasmere of all places? Seems pretty random."

You take a bite of your hotdog, thinking how best to answer his question.

As you did, your thoughts slipped back to the day that changed yout life. And it wasn't good.

Seeing someone get killed right in front of you isn't something you forget easily. It stays with you for the rest of your life.

You shake your head and manage a smiled at William. It was better to use the answer the British Governement told you to use.

"I wanted to try out the simple life and see if it fits me."

You motion at the fair with your hands.

"I guess I did the right thing."

William studied your face for a moment, noticing a small crack in your happiness. He didn't mean to cause you distress. He let out a soft chuckle, deciding to change the subject to something lighter.
