29. THEIR Happiness

Inside the OT,

Aarush changed into a new set of OT clothes while the surgeon in-charge has given anesthesia to Ritika.

She held Aarush's hand and the last thing she remembered was him kissing on her forehead and saying "I'm right here Ritu..."

Manik and Nandini were pacing to and fro, praying to all the gods while Raj and Nyonika assured them.

Sometime later,

"Dr.Aarush...It's a baby boy..." The doctor announced and a wide smile broke on Aarush's face. He, for the first time, trembled seeing the little creature filled with blood and for a moment, he forgot he has seen even more as a young successful doctor.

She handed the baby to Aarush who took it with shivering hands and smiled with tears.

"Dr.Aarush...Her condition is very weak and there can be high complications for next baby...We suggest you to go for a family planning since we are already in between C-section..." The doctor said.

The nurse took the baby from him for further process while Aarush was lost in his thoughts.

He didn't know what to decide and how to console Ritika if she gets to know that they can't have another baby.

"Please make it fast Dr.Aarush...I can understand what you are going through...But it can be life threatening if she conceives again..." The doctor said and Aarush nodded in agreement.

The doctor asked him to sign another consent form before proceeding with the process.

He signed the form and cleaned himself before taking the baby from the nurse who got him wrapped in a soft towel.

Nandini squealed seeing the tiny creature which completely resembled Aarush when he was born.

For Manik, it was as if he was holding Aarush once again, after all these years.

He wiped his happy tears before placing a feather kiss on the baby's forehead.

Hours later, Ritika got her consciousness and the first thing she saw was her husband with their child.

She smiled tiredly and Aarush walked towards her with their baby while Nandini adjusted the bed and helped her hold the baby.

She took care of Ritika until she got discharged while Aarush stayed silent for time being and decided to reveal the news later.

Ritika got discharged 4 days later and it's been 10 days of the baby's birth. Nandini was with Ritika all the time and Aarush has taken leave for few days to support her postpartum days.

"I have spoken to priest and we can have naming ceremony after a week..." Nandini said.

"Glad that we have discussed about baby names..See...I told you it will be a baby boy..." Nyonika said.

Aarush face fell and licked his lips before uttering "Yeah Dadi...You were right...in everything you have said..."

Ritika looked at him confused and the same expression reflected on everyone's face.

"What do you mean Senior...??" She asked patting the baby who just had his feed.

He sighed and took the baby and placed him in his crib once he fell asleep and took Ritika's hands and said "Listen to me...And please don't get hyper..."

"You are scaring me...Just say it already Aarush..." She said and the elders too waited for him to open up.

"He is the only child for us..." He said and gulped while the elders gasped.

Ritika took her hands back and asked with tears "What does that mean...??"

"Means...We cannot have another baby Ritika...I have signed for it and...you cannot conceive again..." He said not meeting her eyes.

She held his collars and asked "How could you...?? How could you do this...??"He too had tears and cupped her cheeks to say "Please try to understand Ritu...Doctor said it will be life threatening if you conceive again...and I didn't have time to decide or wait for you to wake up...We were in middle of your operation..."

She shook him holding his collars while questioning him the same thing and he hugged her tight giving her the much needed time to sink the news in. He knew it was just shocking and she, being a doctor herself, will understand the situation with time.

In their room,"Please Ritu...Try to understand..." Aarush said while Ritika was just staring at the baby who was sleeping peacefully.

She wiped her last traces of tears and gave him a subtle nod and he sighed with a little smile before taking her into his embrace.

They kissed the baby from either side who just moved in sleep making them gasp but sighed in relief when the little human continued his beauty sleep.

Naming ceremony day,

They kept it simple at home since the baby was too small and so they didn't want to have a crowd right now.

"Atleast tell us now...What's the name that you have decided...??" Nandini asked Aarush who smiled and said "I very well know that none will have a problem....So I'm going ahead in naming my son..."

He bent to his son's ear who was in Ritika's lap and whispered his name for three times and earned a toothless precious smile from him.

"Ohhh...Look at him..." Ritika said and asked "Ab bol dijiye Senior..."

He entwined his fingers with hers and said "AADITHYA...AADITHYA AARUSH MALHOTRA..."

Manik and Nandini reminisced their time when Aarush was named as per Manik's wish, just like how Aarush did now. They wiped their happy tears and understood how Raj and Nyonika might have felt at their time.

Ritika snapped her head hearing the name and involuntarily shed tears while he quickly wiped them with a smile, nodding in no.

When she was 7 months pregnant, Aarush just came back home from hospital and Ritika quickly wiped her tears before he could see.

"What happened...??" He asked noticing her dull face and she broke down into tears again.

"Ritu...Ritu...What happened...?? Is it paining somewhere...?? Hua kya hai baby...??" He asked wiping her tears and hugged her to his chest and she replied "I...I miss my parents...Maa and Pa are taking good care of me...But at times, I feel, how it would have been if my parents were alive...They would have been happier seeing my happy family na...??"

Aarush wiped her tears "They are still with you Ritu...Please don't cry..."

"This..." She touched her bump and said "This would have been our second baby...And I would have got both my mom and dad back..."

He hugged her tight not knowing how to console her but decided to give everything that's in his hands.

"Why Aadithya...?" Raj asked and Aarush looked at Ritika who smiled and said looking at her husband lovingly "Aadhiran and Nithya...My parents...Combination of their names..."

Manik gave an appreciative tap on his son's shoulder while Ritika said "The best gift one can ever give me...Thank you Senior..."

Aarush kissed the side of her head and said "It's you who has gifted us with this little prince..." and kissed his son's feet making him giggle.
