Instead of weekly Friday night hang out, Cameron started to call Taylor every Friday night to bring each other up to date.
"I hate Drew," Cameron exclaimed one evening as she slumped onto her bed, staring up at the ceiling and holding the telephone up to her ears. "He's so... perfect."
"I don't think I understand," Taylor admitted, and Cameron sighed.
"Well, he's perfect on paper, really, but he's just so... normal," Cameron admitted. "He's stable, when I want adventure. I don't want to say it but I feel like it's getting boring. We never fight, he puts up with me, honestly, I think we'll be better off as friends."
Taylor didn't reply for a while before she spoke up again. "Then you should probably tell him that. You don't want to continue a relationship if you know you don't want to keep it. It'll kill both of you."
"When did you become so wise?" Cameron teased. Taylor laughed.
"Maybe all these tours I'm doing are doing me some good."
"I wish I could see you perform live," Cameron sighed wistfully.
"One day, I promise you're going to see me perform live when I have my own show. And I'll even bring you backstage," Taylor promised, and Cameron chuckled.
"Look at you, planning big. Who are you and what have you done with my best friend?"
"I think I just feel more confident now that my album is out there. Did you know almost five hundred thousand copies are sold?" Taylor's voice became more excited as she talked, and Cameron felt herself smiling. "It's just so hard to believe that so many people like my album."
"Well you better believe it, you have all of the numbers there to serve as your evidence."
A muffle voice came from the other side of the phone and Cameron tried to tone down her disappointment. "Sorry, Camry, I have to go. I'll talk to you soon, okay?"
"I'll miss you, break a leg," Cameron smiled, and said a quick bye before she heard the dial tone. She sighed, and closed her eyes. Senior year without her best friend was really taking a toll on her, and she knew it was selfish, but Cameron really wanted to be able to see Taylor again.

"I want Taylor to come home already," Cameron placed her book down loudly beside Abigail as she sank into the library chair. Abigail looked up with an unimpressed look.
"This is a library, library voice, Elsher," Abigail childed, and Cameron rolled her eyes.
"Shut up, Anderson, I'm not distracting anyone," Cameron opened her physics textbook, and felt like crying. "Whoever invented physics deserves to die."
Abigail laughed, and put down the book in her hand as she turned her full attention to Cameron. "I miss Taylor too. She'll be back by prom."
"That's too long," Cameron whined, eyes scanning the pages of the textbook before deciding that it wasn't worth her time. "Weren't you going to ask me to read over your college essay?"
Abigail's eyes lit up and she dug into her backpack before pulling out a huge notebook. "Please, I am dying over here. Your English major ass could never."
"Shut up, this English major ass is saving your ass," Cameron rolled her eyes. She had applied to New York University and surprisingly got in with a full scholarship. Her mother wasn't too happy about Cameron choosing to study English in the future but writing was something she always values and she hopes to write in the future. She had recently submitted one of her drafts to a publishing company, now it was just the agonizing waiting period.
Abigail went back to her work as Cameron started to read through the essay, finding herself easily lost in her element.
They parted ways a little past five and headed back home together, Cameron giving Abigail a lift home. "Your essays aren't bad, I think you have a solid chance of getting into whatever university you want."
"Thank you. I would say it back but you are already committed to NYU so..." Abigail teased, and Cameron rolled her eyes. "Does Taylor know yet?"
Cameron bit her lips. "No, I haven't told her yet. I know she wants to stay in Nashville after the tour, and I want to tell her in person if we're going to be states apart."
"Think of it this way, if she continues to be a big name, she'll probably have a penthouse in New York and then you can live with her all you want," Abigail shrugged. "You know, just a thought. And when you become a famous writer, you better remember me too. I can't believe two of my closest friends are all choosing fame over me."
Abigail wiped a fake tear from her eyes, and Cameron rolled her eyes. "Shut up, who knows? You might become a CEO one day and have a penthouse of your own. Don't sell yourself shorts. And I'm not leaving you, don't be so dramatic."
"The only dramatic one I see is you, miss 'I miss Taylor so much I swear I'm going to die without her'," Cameron happened to pull up to Abigail's house just as she finished her sentence, and the redhead ran out of the car before Cameron could start a fight over who was more dramatic.
But it wasn't her fault that she missed her best friend terribly.

"I didn't really want to bring this up but you've been really distant recently, are you okay?" Drew cornered Cameron at her locker one Monday, and Cameron glanced up in surprise.
"Yeah, I'm just tired," Cameron closed her locker and tried to side track him. It wasn't that she was being distant on purpose, but she had a huge fight with her mom recently and she didn't really know what to do about it. On top of Taylor being gone, she just felt like she was slowly falling apart. "Can we talk after school?"
Drew opened his arms and Cameron allowed herself to sink into his warmth, even though she knew she was far from deserving of it. She wanted Taylor's arms to be the ones around her, want it to be Taylor's lips she's kissing-
Cameron froze, and forced a smile onto her face as she pulled away from Drew. "I have a class to go to, I'll see you after school, okay?"
"I hope you feel better, Cammy."
Cameron waved, her smile falling off her face as soon as she ran into the school's restroom and locking herself in a stoll. She was in love with her best friend. She was in love with Taylor fucking Swift.
"Fuck me."
