"War.. war never changes." I told myself as I stared at myself in the mirror. I looked into my cold, hardened gaze and my sharp eyes.

Suddenly, I felt a warm, familiar hand on my shoulder. "Mind if I squeeze in honey?" Nora, my lovely wife, smiled.
"Sure, Hon." I scooted over for her. "Do you think my nose is too big?" I retorted.

"Something's definitely different!" She joked.

(that was if u were customizing ur character u heard them say that)

I took one glance at my beautiful wife before returning to the living room and stumbling into Codsworth.

"Hello Sir! Would you like me to make you some coffee?" He insisted.

"No, thanks Codsworth. How's Shaun?" I asked, eyeing the television behind him.

"He's all right, but he needs you! Boy needs his father." He instructed. "I'll be in the laundry room."

I laughed and went to my son's room. I peeked my head through the door to see him staring carefully at his rotating toys attached to his crib. It had a nursery rhyme Shaun loved coded to play as it spun, so he was focused on the moving shapes. I started to make my way toward him, taking in his cuteness.

'He really had loved the toys I've installed for him.' I thought, admiring his beautiful little eyes and childish mannerisms.

Shaun cooed and stretched out his little arms, attempting to reach me, which I then returned the gesture and held his tiny hand.

My little bonding session was abruptly cut short by a knock at the door. I sighed, before saying "Hold on, kid."

I walked out of Shaun's room and toward the front door. The TV was blaring some news channel awfully quiet, but I could tell it was important. Before I could really pay attention, I opened the door to a salesman in a brown coat and a darker brown fedora. He held a clipboard and a pen, and had a charming smile on his face.

"Good afternoon, Sir. I'm here to sign you up for the vault! Safety comes first, especially with the big boom coming earlier than you expect.. so what do you say? Want to protect your family from all the nasty stuff?"

I stared at him, clutching my doorknob, ready to slam the door in his face. Then, I really thought about it.

'The bomb? What will happen to my family? I told myself I would keep them safe.' I thought.

"Yeah. Okay. Sign us up please." I begged.

"Okay! Great! I'll just need a few pieces of information." The man cheered, handing me his clipboard and pen with enthusiasm.

It contained a form asking for my age, weight, background, and other personal details. I thought it was sketchy, but, it was the government. It's always sketchy for protection.

I filled out the information quickly and thoroughly, and handed it back to the man without a thought.

"Thank you!" He said, before a sudden flash of white appeared, followed by a loud 'boom'. The ground shook beneath my feet, causing artifacts to break and crash around me.

"Nora!" I yelled, instantly rushing for her and Shaun.

Codsworth immediately appeared from the laundry room, startled.

"Sir! Mum! SHAUN!" He yelled louder and louder each name.

I ran to Shaun's room, practically bumping into Nora. I caught her before she got knocked back, and dragged her out of the house. She had Shaun in her other arm, and was looking at me with a frightened expression. "Codsworth, Go hide! I'll be back later!" I yelled frantically.

Nora, Shaun and I then continued to make our war to the vault, watching neighbors and people we knew hauling to their cars, and rushing for belongings. We heard pleas and cries aswell, but I was honestly too focused on their safety to care.

As we approached the vault, the guard inspected us carefully before asking for our names.

(i won't specify so you can have a free imagination)

I answered, before he looked down at his clipboard. " Male. Female. Baby. Come in."

After he said that, we were guided to the vault. There were some neighbors in front of us, so that gave us some hope about surviving.

As Nora and I got our suits, we inspected them before going to our speedster changing rooms, then meeting back up with the guards as he has instructed us.

"Great. Now everyone is here. Everyone get into your pods."

I was hesitant at first, as I watched my wife get into the pod across from me, clutching our son. But, I followed his orders and got into my pod. I heard it lock with a 'click'. I stared at my wife and son as my stomach twisted and turned in fear. Then, everything went white.
