I woke up to my momma yelling about god knows what I groan and got out my bed

getting into my knees to do my morning prayer I was interrupted by my ringtone which was my dads

I smile quickly picking up my phone I haven't seen him in like 3 years due to my momma an her selfish ways

I've been talking to him secretly wishing he'd just come get me all my other siblings are gone to their dads house but me

it's almost Christmas and my siblings are gone and it's just me and my mom two hot heads in one house is never good

I got up and quietly walked into my bathroom turning on the water calling my dad "hello" I said with a smile

"hey baby girl" his voice sounded so happy and soft my eyes started to water "good morning, how are you" I said

"good, I'm glade you called me back" he's voice was gentle "yeah, she took my phone the other day, I almost had to fight her for it" I sigh deeply

"fight her? Like physically" he's voice became worried "yes like last time but this time my brother stopped it" I said

"why wouldn't you just tell me where you are, I've tried to contact your momma but she ain't answering" he said

I could hear him ruffling through papers "I can't do that" I shook my head "why not" he said

"you know if that lady found out I was talking to you she'd beat me till she can't no more" my voice was worried but stern

"yeah that's the problem, just tell me where you are star I need to get to you" he said I was about to until my mom started banging at the door

"ma'am" I said "don't ma'am me open dis damn door" she seemed annoyed "I got to go love you" I said quickly

hanging up the phone I opened the door "yes ma'am" I said making eye contact with her "who were you talking to" she crossed her arms

"no..nobody momma" I said nervously "you a damn lie let me see your phone" she held her hand out I gave her my phone

my heart beating a thousand miles "mhm here and I want my house clean when I get home and if I see anyone leaving my house ima beat ya ass" she said walking away I roll my eyes

I started to clean up the house listening to my dad's music it was like yesterday

me young and sitting on his lap as he wrote and recorded his songs I wonder if he still does it the same is his hands still as soft

is his hugs still the same I finished cleaning and put my shoes on to walk to the store to get something to eat, as I walk

i hear a familiar voice of a few people "aye ima pay for all da stuff just tell me how much it" I walk into the store seeing Von standing at the cash register

as kids grabs snacks I don't know if he remember me so I ain't say nun "star?" He said looking my direction "yeah" I smiles nervously

he hugged me I started crying "man yo daddy be looking for u, you straight" he said still holding me "no I'm ready to leave, but I'm scared she gon find out" I wiped my tears

"she be hittin you or sum" he looked down at me I nodded "where you stay at" he said "I can't tell u all that" I shook my head

I felt my jacket get pulled an I looked up it was my mom my heart started racing "why u touching on my child" she said

"man gon head, why u keeping her from her dad" he said walking closer "I ain't keeping her from him he knows where she at" she rolled her eyes

"no he don't" I mumbled she then dragged me out the store "I can walk myself" I pull away she was silent the whole walk I knew it was bad

I walked in the house she looks at me "you think u sneaky huh" she said I stood there nervously

she then threw a punch at me then I ducked almost making her fall "I'm sorry" I stand up I then got a call from my dad

"hello" I said nervously my mom rushing towards me "star where you at I know u stay round the corner store on 5th" he said "hang up the damn phone!" My mom yelled

"I-" I started to panic my mom trying to hit me but I blocked every punch  I ran into the bathroom

hearing him screaming my name from the phone "hello" my breath heavy "what da hell just happened" he said

"she just tried to fight me cause she saw me talking to Von and got mad" I said I shake slightly as she banged on the door

"where u at ima send Von to come get you" his end sound like he was getting in a car "you know them houses by the corner of 5th" I said

"yeh that's where u at" he said "yes the blue house on the right" I said my mom finally gets the door open

I threw a punch at her making my phone drop in the toilet she looks at me in shock

"get out" she yelled I grabbed my phone and walked into the kitchen putting it in rice I heard her throwing stuff in my room she walks up with a bag throwing it at me "get out now, u want to be grown then leave and don't come back" she yelled I didn't say a word I grabbed my phone and bag walked out I started crying nonstop as I walked

A couple minutes into me walking I see a black car pull up behind me I didn't hesitate to start running "aye wait it's me" Von said running up to me

I realized and quickly hugged him "don't worry you good" he said he walked me to the car I see three other man in there

"where we going" I mumble "taking you home..to your dad" he smiles "but what if she tries to come get it me" I said "don't worry bout her, right now we need to get you safe" he said

I fell asleep then woke up to my lip and her patched up feeling myself being carried

"you ever been on a plan" Von smiled "no" I jumped down "great know it is" he lets me onto the plan

I'm guessing it was private "this is nice" I said "yeah just wait tell you see the city" he chuckled

I took a shower on the plan and changed into my night clothes my phone is working but what's the point of me having it now

"so how old you is now" Von said "14, 15 the day after Christmas" i lay down on the seat pulling the cover over me

"gon head and get some sleep you need it" he said I fell asleep sometimes later

I woke up to my name being called "yeah" I sat up "come on somebody wants to see u" Von smiles I looked around seeing light outside

"ok give me a second" I got onto my knees saying my morning prayer once again I stood up after finishing

I walked down the stairs seeing two black SUV's confused for a second until

I saw my dad getting out of the car I dropped my phone and bag in shook my eyes felled with tears my legs felt weak

"baby girl" he walks up to me smiling holding me tightly I cried nonstop almost felling to my knees

"u so pretty" he kissed my forehead "I missed u" I hugged him tightly "I missed u to" he said

i smile feeling safe and relaxed in his arms "I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner" I sniffed

"u ain't got nun to be sorry for it's my fault for letting u stay with her in the first place and I'm going to make sure you never go back" he said sternly

"I love you" I said "I love you too come on before it raining" he smiles helping me into the car as I smile back
