Inside the castle is extremely medieval. Candle chandeliers, artwork of humans depicted on the ceiling. A staple of old-fashioned decor. Dark wood and uniquely designed wallpaper. High ceilings and a charm lost to the modern world. Every inch of the interior was carefully painted. I wonder how long construction took. "What year was it built?"

"1869...it seems like today is full of your favorite century."

"It is...I'm lucky." I look to the triple wide staircase made of white marble. "I wonder how the kitchen looks. I want to make your favorite meal."

Jace grins

Jace grins. "Good luck with a fire stove."

"I'm used to that."

"No...I mean an actual fire stove with logs." He leads the way to the servant grade kitchen. There are stone pillars embedded in the floor and ceiling. No upper cabinets only lower. Most of the utensils hang. The stove is similar to the metal tops on modern ones, but the bottom is open with a tray for burning the wood.

I scratch the back of my head. "Umm...I never lit a fire in my life."

"I have...family camping trips. I'll show you. First empty the ashpan. Make sure the air vents are open." Jace demonstrates as he lists, moving out the old wood from the pan and adding new, dry pieces, cut like shreds of newspaper. "Add new kindling...the logs. Place the papers in the center of the firebox, then light." He uses a match from a box to start the flames.

I'm overwhelmed by it all. "That's so much! How did they do it back then?!"

"It was normal." He says nonchalantly. "I'll stay...the airflow has to be monitored."

"There's another step??" I rub my forehead.

"I'll go slower next time."

"I doubt it'll stick." I grit my teeth. "Let's go buy a normal one."

"Imagine yourself in the century...let's get into the mood." Jace's voice simmers.

"I thought you said not here..."

"Unless you want to wait until we get to the penthouse?"

"Hmmm....no, I'll try something different tonight. You might like it."
