The snowy tundra howled with a fierce wind, almost as if it were a living entity. The desolate landscape was engulfed by a raging blizzard as Shadewalkers encircled two Silvermane Guards.
Grift: "Heads up!" His voice was barely audible over the howling wind.
He shoved the Silvermane guard aside to intercept an attack meant for the guard. Then, he swiftly kicked the guard away to safety as a spear cut into Grift from behind, making him grunt in pain.
Grift: "You're just in the way! Go get reinforcements! I'll hold them off until they arrive!"
Guard: "But, sir!"
Grift dodged two spear attacks and, with two precise slashes from his Captain's sword, dispatched both enemies by cutting their necks as he turned.
Grift: "This is not a debate! You'll just slow me down. Go! That's an order!"
The guard pulled his helmet visor down and rushed back toward the base camp.
Grift turned his attention to the approaching enemy reinforcements. There were far more than the scout had reported. Six more Everwinter Shadewalkers emerged from the blizzard.
Grift braced himself and then threw his sword forward. As it vanished into thin air a few feet in front of him, he held his ground.
The Shadewalkers advanced with eerie determination. Grift smoothly sidestepped an overhead swing from one of them, his movements fluid and precise. With a gentle touch on the creature's neck, he guided it forward as if leading a dance, his sword materializing with lethal grace to pierce its heart. Without pause, Grift caught the sword as it passed through the creature's body, swiftly dispelling another foe with a precise strike to the neck.
As Grift noticed another shade approaching from behind, he swiftly recorded a time loop for his dagger, its gleaming blade cutting through the air as it found its mark in the Shadewalker's head. Within seconds, the creature was dispatched. But as the dagger disappeared, the time loop he activated caused it to reappear in his hand, ready to strike again. With seamless precision, Grift continued his assault, each movement a deadly dance as he swiftly eliminated the shades.
With only two left, Grift's focus sharpened. One was larger and more adorned, the other charging with fierce determination. The smaller one lunged with its spear, but Grift's reflexes were quicker. He evaded the strike with a graceful sidestep, his blade slicing through the creature's neck with deadly accuracy.
As the shade dissipated, Grift's senses heightened. He barely reacted in time as a spear thrust towards him through the other shade, his sword clashing with the weapon in a dazzling display of skill. But the strike found its mark, driving deep into Grift's shoulder and forcing him to his knees. The larger shade had seized the opportunity to close in and attack through his ally's corpse, its menacing presence looming over Grift like a shadow of impending doom.
