Chapter 10 A new investigator

[Context: this is Emily's POV so please don't get confused]

It's been best day of my life,I got seat in University of San diego!!!!
I can now finally move there and see Carlos very often than usual.

We both were online friends but then we fell in love and then we got into relationship.
He lived in San diego and I was in different state, after getting into relationship we both used to meet on every special occasion.

And after waiting for few weeks she was going there, it was supposed to be suprise for Carlos but.....it turned into trauma for me.

I reached their tried contacting him on phone call, texted him but nothing worked. I think he was busy in work or something. I thought to go and suprise him in his work place but he was not there I thought he might be at home but it was little far way so I thought to go dorm and keep all my stuff and then suprise.
I was at his place now but I saw all of his family members but not him, it was strange why his all of his family was there, he lived alone so I was kinda amazed.

I felt blissful but not for too long, his sister
Came and started grieving and then said

" Carlos is no more"

I was horrified nd left speechless.
Many people say the World has ended for them after there loved ones leave but today I felt it there was no reason for me to live.

This is how things went for Emily and for not much interested behaviour.
And that's the reason Carlos's death was one of the crucial death's soo far.

After few months of friendship Emily said Chloe whole thing what happened to her.

The door has opened for Chloe
The door of opportunities, the door of LAPD.
She is now going to join the police department.
What was in the letter?
Well it was joining letter, she'll be joining LAPD,in the place of Carter.

Well this is now what exactly she has planned for.
She got this offer right after the death of Carter, that she can join police department after her graduation but she was not interested to even live in that place.

Why did she come back then?

Answer is Carlos's death
I mentioned that his death is important here is the reason for that.
Well after having such a death justice wasn't served for him and his family.
This reminded Chloe thing his dad said
" I joined police department so that people can trust us and believe they are safe in here and  that justice must be served"

This statement made her believe again in the police department and also motivated her to join LAPD ( los Angeles police department ).

After rigorous training and practice she was now finally qualified to join.

Chole's heart raced as she stepped in the department . New as out of the academy, she wanted to prove herself as a valuable person to the team.

Detective  Harris welcomed her with a handshake and a warm smile. "Welcome aboard, Chole. We're glad to have you join us."

Chole nodded, and she was overwhelmed. "Thank you, sir. I'm eager to get started."

Her first few days were puzzles of introductions, paperwork, and ongoing cases. She quickly realized that being a detective wasn't just about solving crimes; it was about understanding human nature, revealing complex relationships, and never hide the truth.

As Chole settled into her new role, she came across her first major challenge—a group of burglaries that had kept the team for weeks. Despite her best efforts, she struggled to clear the case. Every case left her frustrated

Captain Harris noticed her growing frustration and pulled her aside one afternoon. "Chole, I know these cases have been tough on you, but remember, every detective faces despair. So, stay forward and keep pushing yourself "

Encouraged by his words, Chole enhanced her efforts, and has gone through the footage. Slowly, she began to expose crucial clues that had been looked by her colleagues. With confidence, she presented her work and the evidence found to the team, and together, they were able to find and the culprit behind the burglaries.

Just as Chole was beginning to adjust she came across—a high-profile kidnapping case that left the city in fear. As the pressure increased, she doubted her abilities and questioned herself if she was fit for the job.

It was during this time of self-doubt that she found Kevin, a veteran detective known for his zero unsolved cases. Sensing her getting troubled, he thought of helping Chloe.

"Chole, every detective faces moments of doubt," Kevin said, his voice steady."But what sets us apart is how we respond to the situation. Remember why you became a detective in the first place, and let that motivate and inspire  you forward."

Inspired by Kevin's words, Chole gained her confidence back. Working tirelessly with her mentor, she uncovered a crucial lead that ultimately led to the safe return of the kidnapped victim. Her confidence restored, she emerged from the stronger and more stable than ever before.

As Chole continued to express her skills as a detective, she encountered a series of cases that put her abilities to the test.

There were moments of success, such as when she cracked a cold case that had been unsolved for years, bringing closure to the victim's family. But there were also moments of sadness, when she found herself troubled with the weight of her failures.

Through it all, Kevin remained by her side, offering guidance and support whenever she needed it most. Together, they faced each new challenge with courage and determination, never losing sight of their ultimate goal—to seek justice for those who could not seek it for themselves.

Years passed, and Chole's reputation as a skilled detective grew. Her name became heard with justice, and her work inspired many people to follow in her work and methods.
