Christopher saw Chloe as the door opened. His mind raced with confusion. "Why are you here?" he asked, his voice edged with both surprise and curiosity.

Chloe stood in the doorway, her expression a mix of determination and concern. "I am here for the case. He has been acting strange, so I came to check up on him. He wanted to talk to me about something," she explained, her tone professional but tinged with unease.

"But wait, why are YOU here? You don't know him," Chloe countered, her eyes narrowing as she scrutinized Christopher.

Christopher felt a cold sweat break out on his forehead. He started stuttering, struggling to find the right words. "I .. i got to know him from the past crime scene. I am following him," he finally managed to say, his voice faltering.

Chloe's eyes lingered on him for a moment longer, still filled with suspicion. "Oh, okay," she replied, though her tone suggested she was far from convinced.

They both stepped inside the dimly lit house, the air heavy with an unsettling quiet. The faint smell of mildew and dust hung in the air, mingling with the stale scent of neglect. Christopher immediately began searching, his eyes darting around the room as if he were looking for something specific. Chloe watched him for a moment, her curiosity piqued, before deciding to explore the house herself.

The old house creaked and groaned under their footsteps. The wallpaper was peeling, and the furniture was covered in a thick layer of dust. As the hours passed, the oppressive silence weighed on them. The night grew darker, and the tension between them seemed to ease slightly. It was getting late, and they both decided it was time to leave.

The silence between them felt awkward, so Christopher broke it by asking about Chloe's life. "So, how's life been treating you?" he asked, his voice breaking the stillness of the night.

Chloe glanced at him, surprised by the question. "It's been... interesting," she replied, a small smile playing on her lips. "I've been busy with work, as usual. How about you?"

Christopher chuckled, the sound echoing softly in the empty street. "Same here. Work's been crazy, but it's good to stay busy."

They soon found themselves laughing and teasing each other, the earlier suspicion giving way to a tentative camaraderie. The shared laughter felt like a balm, soothing the awkwardness that had hung over them.

Suddenly, out of the corner of his eye, Christopher saw a shadow moving. It was the silhouette of a girl, and something about her felt hauntingly familiar. His heart raced as he tried to make sense of the fleeting image.

"Did you see that?" Christopher asked, his voice tense.

Chloe followed his gaze but saw nothing. "See what?" she asked, her tone skeptical.

Christopher shook his head, trying to shake off the feeling. "Nothing, must have been my imagination."

After ensuring Chloe was safely dropped off at her home, Christopher couldn't shake the feeling that he needed to find that shadowy figure. His mind kept whispering the name Kevin, though he couldn't understand why. He roamed the streets, his eyes scanning every dark corner, every shadow, but after a few fruitless minutes, he decided to head back home.

As he approached his street, his heart skipped a beat. The same figure stood there, illuminated by a flickering streetlamp. She started walking toward him, her movements slow and deliberate. As her face became visible, Christopher felt a jolt of shock.

"Y-yo—you! How come you are here?" he stammered, his voice barely above a whisper.

" You should have known better," she said, her voice cold and menacing. As she spoke, she hits him, the impact of her words hitting him

Christopher staggered, still processing the encounter. His mind raced, trying to piece together the fragments of memory and reality that were now colliding. ..
