AFTER COMING HOME LAST NIGHT, your dad grounded you. you weren't allowed to go swimming for a month, and if you tried to resist, it would be extended to two months or more.

you spent the whole day either lounging on your bed or looking out the window.

it was night time, and you were still in your room, all by yourself. you were used to being alone, but now the absence of your friends made you feel lonely.

as you were reading a book out of boredom, you heard a soft knocking on your window, which startled you. was it a branch? a bird? or maybe a robber? you were too scared to pull back the curtains to see what was outside, until a familiar voice called out, "(name), it's me."

you approached the window and pulled back the curtains to find jj crouching on the rooftop. when he saw you, he grinned.

"hey there."

"jj?" you called in surprise.

"the one and only." he replied with a cheeky smile.

you opened the window, bombarding him with questions, "what are you doing here? and on the roof? how did you even get up here?"

he climbed inside, taking in the surroundings. it was his first time in a girl's room. he would usually have girls over at the chateau, in his own room there, but he had never been in a girl's room, much less yours.

he flopped down on your bed, which was really soft and bouncy. then he answered, "first off, i'm here because i wanted to see you. second, i didn't want your dad to catch me. and third, i have my ways. you can say i'm stealthy like a ninja."

you giggled at that.

"you missed out on a lot of things. i expected to see you at the beach or on the sidewalk again, we were going to get you, but you were nowhere to be seen. did something happen?"

"my dad grounded me because i went out yesterday without permission." you explained sadly.

"so, he's not letting you leave the house..." jj's eyes drifted to the book in your hands. "and you can't even use your phone?"

"phone?" you asked, blinking. "oh, i don't have a phone. dad says there's too much stuff on there that i shouldn't see."

the internet certainly had its dark sides, but jj was beginning to dislike how controlling your dad seemed to be over your life.

"it's okay. i have my books with me..." you showed the cover of the book you were currently reading. essentials of oceanography by harold v. thurman, it said. he noticed you had a shelf filled with many books, most of it ocean-related, most likely. each sections were decorated with sea shells and had little trinkets lined up along the books.
