(Y/N's POV)
Marcus was doing the orientation with some of the other people from yesterday, we got to explore more of the place than yesterday and had to go to the lot to go inside the regular step-van and I got to be honest, it looked like an old ford Model-T in comparison to the electric van I drove it back to the place. I kept that to myself and continued to listen to him, he even had one of us get in the driver's seat to get a feel for the van.
Marcus- Now, here's the keys. Try turning on the engine but don't do anything else.
The person in the seat did just that and the engine was loud but was expected.
Marcus- Good, now turn it off and we will return to the DPS to begin step van driving training.
We all left the lot and went inside where a whiteboard had names on it in front of us. I took a closer look to find mine and I did find my name but it was separated from the other's names, I wonder why.
Marcus- OK everyone, right here is where you'll be assigned to a number van for training, we are not going to go in the road just yet, that will be for tomorrow but in a smaller route. In basic terms, another person will be with you to guide you to give you tips, can ask questions too, and will review your performances. Does anyone have any questions for me so far?
Everyone just said nothing with tired looks on their faces, even I too didn't say anything cause I legit had nothing to ask. I think I'm getting it so far.
Marcus- Nothing at all? Well then, let's start with the first name.
Then he assigned a van to a name one by one and I felt like I was going to be called last, that's a little weird but whatever.
Marcus- OK, now that everyone except for one now has a van to call their own for the day, get over there and wait by the door until me or another manager or lead is there. Got it, everyone?
They all silently nodded to him and began to walk to the lot. I stayed behind cause I was never assigned one.
Y/N- Marcus?
Marcus- Yeah Y/N?
Y/N- Why didn't I get a van assigned?
Marcus- That's because you are getting special training for the electric van, I think Ms.Balmer said this earlier to me but yes, you will be appointed to the new van as of today.
Y/N- That's amazing, I can't wait to drive it some more, it was awesome.
Marcus- Well, I'm glad you already have the spirit to start, now let's go and I'll have you meet your trainer for your special training.
Y/N- Alright then.
I followed Marcus to the van and when we got closer to the vehicle, I saw a short brown-haired woman standing next to the door. She saw us and waved, Marcus did the same but I just shyly smiled back, I get like this at times.
"Hi Marcus, how's it going?"
Marcus- Pretty good, just the usual for today.
"Ahh, got it. Is this the new hire I'm going to train?"
Marcus- Yes he is, wanna introduce yourself?
Y/N- Yeah, Hi I'm Y/N L/N, nice to meet you.
"Nice name, I'm Karen Bird, please to meet you too Y/N."
We shook hands and I walked towards the van's driver door.
Marcus- Karen is gonna be your trainer from this point on Y/N but if there are any questions or concerns, let Karen or myself know ok?
