Chapter two
"Having an imagination makes you crazy."
The next morning, Hope got up and changed into her school uniform, she was putting her head band in her hair, as the door to her room opened and her mom walked in, holding open the end of Henry's book "the missing pages. Where are they?" she asked her, closing it, Hope furrowed her brows and turned to her "last time I checked that part of the books been missing since Henry got it. He always complains to me about how he doesn't know how it ends, where I have to come with some dramatic ending for him which changes by the amount of times he reads the whole damn thing." she shared.
Bending down and grabbing her book bag "why does it matter?" she asked her "it matters because he thinks I'm some evil queen. And that hurt's me, Hope, I'm your guys mother." her mother shared, putting her hand on Hope's face "I know. But Henry.." Hope shared "it's that women he brought her. I don't like what she or this book is doing to him and I don't want it to do the same to you. So thankfully, both are no longer an issue." her mother shared, as Hope furrowed her brows "what does that mean?" she asked her, as the bell tooled on the clock tower.
Her mother turned around and looked out her window and when she did, Hope's eyes went wide, remembering how Henry talked about things changing once Emma came to town, and that clock hadn't moved her entire life, as she turned running out of her room, Henry was heading down the stairs "go, go, go.." she whispered to him, as the two ran down the steps and to the front door, swinging it open, they slammed it behind them.
As the two of them were then sitting at granny's diner before school, Henry had asked Ruby to set up a coco for Emma when she walked in with cinnamon in it, the way Henry liked it although Hope was always wanted more chocolate compared to cinnamon "so?" Henry asked her "so, mom came into my room earlier and was hounding me about your book. Specifically the missing ending, your lucky I think fast on my feet." Hope shared "what'd you tell her?" Henry asked her "that it's been missing since you got it. And how I've been making up the ending but she's not gonna buy it for long so before she get's mad, rather then upset I suggest we get rid of those pages." Hope shared.
"Already on it." Henry told her "look, the coco was a nice gesture. And I am impressed that you guessed that I like cinnamon on my chocolate cause most people don't, but I am not here to flirt. So thank you, but not thank you." Emma shared, handing her mug to Graham and as she did, Hope had been watching her, as she laughed, Emma looked to her and when she did, realized who the coco was from "that would be from us." Henry shared, as he turned and looked at her "I like cinnamon, too. Hopes more into chocolate." he shared, getting out of the booth at the same time as Hope.
"Don't you guys have school?" Emma asked "we're ten and thirteen of course we have school." Hope shared "walk us?" Henry asked her, as Hope turned around and began walking out, Henry followed after her along with Emma.
Where as the three headed out, they began walking across the street as Emma played with an apple in her hand "so what's the deal with you guys and your mom?" Emma asked "it's not about us, it's about her curse. We have to break it. Luckily I have a plan. Step one, identification. I call it operation cobra." Henry shared, as they began walking along with the sidewalk "cobra? That has nothing to do with fairytales." Emma shared "which is what makes it the perfect cover. To throw the queen off the trail." Hope shared.
As Emma furrowed her brows "so everyone here is a fairytale character, they just don't know it?" she asked "that's the curse. Time's been frozen. Until you got here." Henry shared, as Emma went to bite into her apple, on instinct Hope reached her hand up and took it, throwing it away "Hope!" Emma voiced "where'd you get that?" Henry asked her "your mom." Emma shared "she had every right to throw it away. You should not eat that." Henry shared "okay. Uh, alright. What about their pasts?" Emma asked "they don't know. It's a haze to them. Ask anyone, anything and you'll see." Henry shared.
