Lewis was in class playing with his friends. They were making fun of a girl for her outfit. She was crying as they were laughing. The teacher was busy sending pics to the old men she talks to on farmers only dating. All the sudden, a new girl with long hair with 2 high buns and pink bows came in. She was wearing a light blue dress and a pink and white laced backpack. Lewis and his friend left the other girl alone and immediately began laughing at the door. The teacher glanced at the girl. She got up and stood beside her. She put her greasy hands on her shoulders. "Class, today we have a new student. Would you like to introduce yourself?" She asked. The girl shrugged. The teacher swallowed as she looked at the class. "This is Velvette, be nice to her everyone," she said. "Where do I sit?" Velvette mumbled. The teacher smiled as she pointed to an empty desk by Lewis. "Over there," She said as she sat back down. She walked over and began putting her stuff in her desk. Lewis stared at her. He started giggling a bit. "Why do you look like you came out of the Victorian era?" He asked. Velvette turned to him. She shrugged. He began laughing with his friends. That same day, after recess, Velvette was sitting alone on the swingset. A girl with straight hair sat on the swing next to her. "Hi, my names Mia, and you?" She asked as she smiled. Velvette paused. "I'm Velvette," she responded. "Well, I already knew that so I don't know why I asked, but hi Velvette!" Mia giggled. "I like your outfit," She said. "Really?Thank you!" Velvette said as her face lit up. "I love yours too," She said. "Thank you," Said Mia. Lewis and his friends then walked to the swingsets around them. I like your bows!" One of his friends, Marcus, said. "Thank you?" Velvette said. Mia nudged her. "I don't think that was a compliment," she whispered. Velvette looked back at Marcus. Lewis and them laughed. "Go away!" Mia said, shooing them with her hand. Lewis ran over to Velvette. Mia tried to push him off, but he brushed her away. He took out the bows in Velvettes hair. "No, stop it, please!" Velvette cried. He laughed as he tossed them to Tyler, his other friend. He laughed as well as he stomped it around in the dirt. Velvette quickly ran over and tried to take it back. But it was already dirty. Her eyes started to water. She started to cry. Mia rushed over to her and kneeled down as she put her hand on her back. "It's okay, we can wash it," She said, attempting to comfort her. But Velvette continued sobbing. Lewis and Tyler laughed but Marcus stared at her. He felt kinda bad. Lewis and Tyler ran away. "You coming Marcus?" Tyler asked. "Yeah," he said, looking back at them and rushing over to them. Velvette looked up as she sniffed. "Don't worry, we can wash it" Mia said as she put her hand on Velvettes shoulder, trying to comfort her. But she continued to sob. After recess, Velvette was wiping away the tears from earlier. "What's wrong, Velvette?" The teacher asked. "It's nothing," Velvette said as she held her self up. She sat back down as she took the messed up bows and put them in her pocket. The teacher stared at her but ignored it. When Velvette got home from school, she rushed to her mom. She told her mom what happened as she sobbed loudly. "Oh my, I'm so sorry honey," Her mom said, rubbing Velvettes back as Velvette hugged her. "But don't get your tears on my 275 dollar dress now," She said, pushing Velvette back. "Now where are the bows?" Her mom asked. Velvette rubbed her tears away as she gave them to her mom. "Aw, im so sorry again," her mom examined them. "I guess we could wash them," she said. Velvette thought everything would be pretty much over after that day, but it wasn't. A couple of weeks later, she still had bullying problems. She was walking to her table when one of those boys out there leg in front of her and tripped her up. She fell in front of everyone, and they immediately began laughing. She blushed as she sat down and covered her face with her hands. Mia looked towards her and put her hand on her shoulder. "Hey, it's okay," She said. "Happens to me all the time, there's nothing to be sad about!" Mia smiled, cheering Velvette up a bit. But Velvette just shrugged and put her head down.
That day at recess, Velvette was sitting by a water fountain when all the sudden Lewis can up behind her and pushed her in it. Velvette cried a lot. The next day, the principal talked to the class about bullying problems. Velvette was absent and Lewis wondered why. Lewis didn't pay attention to the principal when all the sudden the teacher looked at him. "Louis, I know it was you." The teacher shouted. Lewis was shocked and everyone looked at him. The next day both Velvettes and Lewis's parents were informed about the situation. Velvettes mom invited Lewis's mom for tea. Lewis and his mom were driving in the car when they got to their driveway and stopped. "Aren't you going to get out?" Lewis asked. His mom sighed and turned the front mirror towards him. "So were you bullying this girl?" She asked. Lewis looked at her. He paused, thinking how to respond. "N-no, He claimed. "I know you did." His mom shouted. Lewis looked out the window to Velvettes house. It was actually very nice. He didn't see too much but he saw their backyard that was huge and had a pool, trampoline, and playset. He thought about playing on that all day long. But then his mom sighed before finally unlocking the doors and going out with Lewis. They walked to the front door and rang the doorbell. "And never bully anyone again, okay mister?" Lewis looked at her and couldn't speak, but nodded. Then Velvette and her mom came to answer the door. Velvettes mom was wearing a nice silk dress and clacks heels. The type that Lewis's mom wore only at the fanciest places. "Hello, are you Mrs. Miles?" Velvettes mom asked. "Yes, and you're Ms.Amana, correct?" Lewis's mom asked. "Yes ma'am!" Ms.Miller said, moving out the doorway. "Come in!" Velvette hid behind her mom's dress as she squeezed it tight. Lewis stared at her. "Would you like some tea? It just finished now," Ms. miller offered. "Yes please, that would be delightful." Lewis's mom said, smiling. Their moms sat down at the table and drank tea. "Mom, what do I do?" Lewis asked his mom quietly. "Go with Velvette and apologize to her." She replied. "But-" "Now." Lewis walked to the backyard where Velvette was sitting on the swingset. She glanced at him and then looked back down. "Hi," Lewis started, sitting next to the swing next to her. Velvette was silent. Lewis looked at the sky. "Why weren't you at school the last week?" Lewis asked, turning his head towards her. Velvette looked at him and pointed. "You." She said, putting her attention towards him. Lewis gasped a bit until he then looked forward. "Well, sorry," He said. Velvette looked at him. "Really? Do you really mean that?" She asked, looking happy. "Yeah, well, kinda, half because my mom is making me apologize," Lewis said. "Oh." Velvette said, as they both looked other ways. A while later Lewis's mom came back and called for Lewis. "Lewis!" She waved, getting his attention. Lewis walked over there and looked away from his mom. "Did you say sorry?" She asked. "Yes," Lewis replied. "Did you really? Did you mean it?" his mom asked. Lewis felt like he was in an interrogation. "Yes.." He said. Lewis looked at Velvette. "Did he say sorry?" His mom called out. "Uh- Yes ma'am..." Velvette said. Lewis's mom looked at him. "Okay, let's go," She said, as they walked to the car together. "Bye Mrs. miles!" Said Ms. Amana. "Bye! And thank you for the tea, we promise this will never happen again, Right Lewis?" His mom asked. "Yes ma'am.." He mumbled. "Say it like you mean it," His mom said. "Yes ma'am," Lewis said better. "It's okay, bye!" Ms. Amana waved. And that was the last time Lewis saw Velvette for a while.
