That was the last time Lewis saw Velvette for a while. He heard she got homeschooled due to all the bullying. He thought about her though for the following grades, up until 12th grade. It was finally his senior year. He felt excited to leave. It was breakfast and he was eating lunch with his mom, his little sister, and his older sister. "So are you all excited about starting school today?" Their mom asked. "Yep!" His little sister, Celeste giggled. "You're starting kindergarten, of course you're excited," Lewis groaned. His mom stared at him angrily. "Well, are you excited about starting school?" She asked. "A bit," Lewis thought. "But I already want the school year to be over," He said. His mom nodded. "Well, I'm sure it will be done before you know it. They heard the bus outside the window. Lewis looked behind him and got his backpack. So did his little sister. His older sister, Lilith, had graduated and was visiting from college since they had a break. "Bye," Lilith said, waving a bit. "Bye!" Their mom waved. They opened the door and got on their bus. When Lewis got to his school, he walked towards his locker. He got his stuff and then closed the door. He walked over to his friends who were already there and talking to each other. "Hey," Lewis said. "What's up, Lewis?" Tyler asked. "Nothing, are you guys excited for school?" He asked. Marcus groaned. "Not at all! I can't wait to graduate and move out," Marcus said leaning against his locker. "Me too," Lewis laughed. "Me three," Tyler said. They all laughed. A bit later the bell rang and they walked to their classes. (Btw Marcus and Lewis are in the same class but not Tyler)Everyone took a seat somewhere. After talking with his other friends for a bit Lewis looked at the door and saw someone.. familiar. That's when he realized. It was Velvette. She was wearing a pink jacket and a cute brown plad skirt, with her hair tied into pigtails with some pink bows. She stood at the front door. There was no where else to sit then beside Lewis's desk. "Class, settle down," The teacher announced. She then noticed Velvette. "Hello, take a seat over there please," The teacher pointed to the empty desk next to Lewis. He watched as Velvette slowly walked over there she sat down as she put her stuff in her desk. She tried her best not to stare at Lewis, but he was staring at her. "Hello everybody, my name is Ms. Taylor and I will be your home room teacher for the rest of the school year." Ms. Taylor said as she wrote her name on the board. Lewis stared at Velvette, but she didnt look back. He knew she was purposely ignoring him. So he just looked back at Ms.Taylor. "So, how about we start introducing ourselves, starting with..." The teacher paused, thinking about who to choose to introduce themselves first. "How about.. Mr.Miles here, stand up!" He sighed as he stood up. Everyone was staring at him, including Velvette. But when he looked back at her, she focused on another area. "Hi... my names lewis and.. my name is lewis...and... thats it..." He mumbled. Ms.Taylor did the light skin stare at him. "Is that it?" She asked. "Yes.. well, my favorite color is green," He said. "Okay... sit back down please," Ms.Taylor responded. Lewis sat back down. Ms.Taylor then looked at Velvette. "How about you, Ms.Velvette?" Velvette paused and stood up slowly. "Hi.. I.." Velvette took a big gulp gulp gulp, before speaking again. "I'm Velvette, I like music and pink." She said before she sat back down slowly. "Okay, good job I suppose," Ms.Taylor began to call on other people to introduce themselves. But Lewis couldn't even hear her, his ears were basically blocking out all the sound, it sounded like he was underwater. And the only thing he could focus on was Velvette. And everything else was a blur. Before he knew it, class was over. He was leaning by his locker, looking at the ceiling. He regretted everything he did to Velvette. Pretty soon, Marcus and Tyler walked up to him. "Hey, Lewis, Marcus told me you were acting stupid in class today," He laughed. "Oh..yeah.. I was just ready for school to be over already I guess," He said, standing back up straight as Marcus and Tyler went to the lockers by him. "Dude, is everything ok? You've been acting strange ever since class started," Marcus said. "Yeah, I'm fine... It's... Its just.." Lewis whispered. "What is it?" Tyler asked. "It's nothing, forget it." Right as Lewis finished that sentence, Velvette walked by. She walked towards Lewis. "Uh, excuse me.." She said, squeezing by the 3 friends. "My lockers here," she said, straying best not to make eye contact. Marcus and Tyler stared at Lewis as he looked like a juicy, ripe, tomato. That's a weird comparison but whatever. Velvette quickly got her stuff and ran away from them. "..She's back?" Tyler said. "Who? Velvette? Oh yeah, i forgot to tell you," Marcus said. "Wow, She's just as much of a pussy as she was years ago!" He laughed. "Yeah.." Lewis said under his breath. Lewis shook his head as he changed the topic and eventually forgot about the whole thing.
-VELVETTES POV-
"That was so awkward.. I feel as if I'm in a stupid book or.. movie or something.." She thought. Walking through the halls. "Where should I go? This place is like a maze." Velvette wandered around the halls until she zoned out and bumped into a girl. "Oh, im so sorry!" She said, getting up and gathering her books. "No problem, it's okay," an unknown girl said. "Wait..I heard that voice before," Velvette looked up and saw someone familiar. She hold her hand out, helping Velvette up, but suddenly, she remembered. It was Mia! "Mia!" Velvette gasped as she hugged Mia real tight. "Who are-wait..." Mia said as she was being choked by Velvettes hug. "Velvette??" Velvette let her go. "Yes!!" She said, happily. "I thought you were homeschooled! Oh my gosh, I'm so happy you're back!" Mia said. "Well, I was homeschooled, but I changed back, my mom said it would be better for my social life or something, I don't know." She said. "Oh, I'm so glad you're here though! So let me tell you everything," But right before Mia could finish, The bell rang. "Welp gotta go to class, hey, what lunch period are you?" Mia asked Velvette. "Uh, my lunch period is after my 3rd period," Velvette said. "Really? Same! Meet me at the last lunch table, ok?" Mia said, getting ready to walk to class. "Okay! I'll see you I guess," Velvette said as she walked to her next class.
-SKIP TO LUNCHTIME (they all have the same lunch period)-
-LEWIS POV-
"I bet I can fit 12 grapes in my mouth!" Tyler said. "Really? Then do it! I dare you!" Marcus laughed. "Okay, bet $20!" "Bet!" They laughed as Tyler shoved grapes down his mouth. "1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,..." Marcus counted, but before he could get 12, he coughed them up. "Uh, I don't wanna choke, y'know?" Tyler said. "Okay, then give me my $20," Marcus said. "Uh.. I.." They laughed together, but Lewis was silent. He kept thinking about Velvette. He couldn't even stop. "Why was I mean to her all those years.. why, why, why???" But then, all the sudden, Velvette walked into the lunchroom with Mia. "Great, she's here," Marcus said, staring at them. "And it's that weirdo Mia, she's like, emo or something!" Tyler laughed as he looked at Lewis and then back. "Why did she even come back? I was actually getting happy she's leave forever!" Lewis said, but he didnt really mean it. He just didnt want them to figure out he doesn't mind her anymore. Uwu Both Marcus and Tyler laughed. "She can't be in this school! There's so many innocent lives she's ruining," Marcus said and they laughed again. But Lewis wasn't paying attention. All he could focus on was Velvette. Her and Mia sat down, as Mia started talking to Velvette. Lewis sighed.
-VELVETTES POV-
Mia was talking to Velvette and they sat down at an empty table. "What do you think of school so far?" Mia asked. Velvette paused and thought for a moment. "Uh, its not to bad.. I guess.." She sighed. "At least I have you," She smiled, and then Mia did so as well. Velvette turned to Lewis and stared at them for a moment. But she looked back at Mia. "Oh yeah.. I forgot about them," Mia groaned. "Have they been mean to you any?" She asked. "Well.. not really, but.. I heard them talk about me a bit. You know, it was really only Marcus and Tyler, Lewis just didn't say anything at all," She said, eating her lunch. "Okay, just remember if they're ever mean to you, tell me, I'll do my best to help you," Mia said. Velvette did a warm grin and looked down. "Promise?" She said, looking back up at Mia. "Promise!" Mia exclaimed. They both exchanged smiles and then exchanged numbers. Pretty soon, lunch was over.
-TIME SKIP TO AFTER SCHOOL- (LEWIS POV)
Lewis walked with Celeste (his little sister) and opened the door to their house. Their mom was on the couch reading a book. "Hey! How did school go?" She asked. "Great!" Celeste giggled. "Good! And you, Lewis?" Lewis shrugged and went up the stairs to his room. As soon as he got there he put his backpack on the ground and threw himself on the bed. He groaned as he sat back up and looked out his window. He saw a bird. The bird sorta reminded him of Velvette. He slightly tilted his head and sighed. "I don't know what to think anymore.." He mumbled. He began to feel his eyelids shut and pretty soon, he fell asleep.
