Too Drunk to blame

"Mario is going to get ambushed... and Amber... Amber is going to." My strength barely carried me through the full realization.

Then, an unsuspecting voice said, "Amber is going to what?"

I saw Kevin and Rob propped up casually on a sailboat's railing.

"Hey, Amber is cute. Tell my drunk ass what is happening with her before I lose it." Kevin goaded.

Rob snorted, "Dude, you drank too much. Plus, I didn't know you liked the bossy types like that."

"What are you two... doing here?" I stammered.

"Well, we were on the first big boat having drinks before getting kicked out. Now we are going to go fishing on our sailboat." Rob tapped the hull.

I glanced at the boat, and my eyes expanded like hot air balloons.

"Hey Kevin, you said you like Amber, right?

Kevin cocked an eyebrow circumspectly. "Yeah, what about it?"

"You see, she is in trouble, and if you were to step in to help, you would be her Savior."

A grin lit up Kevin's face. "Oh really, where's she at?" I pointed at the big boat ahead, and he grew restless. "Well, let's go then. We got a boat to catch up with!"

Robert elbowed his arm. "Hold up, buddy, who says you can use my boat?" His eyes roamed over to mine. "Also... Mom, didn't you commit a crime or something... OH YEA YOU KILLED—"

I clamped my hand over his mouth. "You see... I was cleared of all charges. Have you not been paying attention to the news?" I reasoned.

"... Oh...Really?" Robert was unconcerned but added, "... Forget it. I'm too drunk for this."

I sighed in relief as I bluffed my way out of that.

It was Kevin's turn to nudge Robert. "Rob, stop Cob blocking, let's go."

Once I hopped on the sailboat so we could take off, cop cars flooded the bay.

"Woah, someone must have got shot after we left. Look at all those cops. Let's go check it out."

Rob nodded, "Yeah, for sure!"

I grabbed the wheel of the sailboat. "Y'all trying to get in trouble!"

Rob and Kevin hopped their eyes over the empty beer cans on the boat.

I narrowed my eyes at Kevin. "Come on, Kevin... Amber... Don't forget about Amber!"

Kevin considered this for a second and then floored it!

That was when my phone rang. "It's Kali!" I cleared my throat, smoothing my voice's edge. "Hello? Kali, what's going on? "

The caller, who snickered with a low timbre, replied, "Hehehe, Hahaha... "

My pulse spiked. "Kali?"

"Nope," the imposter snarked.

"Wait, what??? How? Who are you?"

"The one you fear the most." Again, with the cryptic teases. This person viewed my anguish like a game, a spectacle they laughed at and toyed with.

Blood was coursing hot through my veins. "Where is Kali!!?" I crowed.

"Kali, right? That's his name? He is still alive, but I don't know for how long. See, he is tied up in this situation, too. I can't leave no loose ends." That was when I heard muffled screams through the audio.

Shaky screeches shot up my throat. "What have you done?! KALI!"

Rob and Kevin glanced warily in my direction. "Yo you, okay?"
