Bandu and Expunged Adopt a Child

No Memories

One day, as the family is gathered in the living room, Expunged can't help but ponder something that has been on their mind for a while. They look at Bambari, who is now a tall, confident ten-year-old, yet still without any powers of her own. 

Expunged's curiosity gets the better of them, and they decide to bring it up.

Expunged: [thoughtfully] Bambari, can I ask you something?

Bambari: [looking up from her book] Of course, Parent. What is it?

Expunged: [carefully] I've been wondering... Since you're a Bambisona, you should have some sort of powers. But we've never seen any sign of them. Do you remember anything unusual from when you were very young?

Bambari furrows her brow, thinking hard about her early memories.

Bambari: [slowly] I don't remember much from when I was really little. It was just me, alone, for as long as I can remember. Anything before that, I don't have any memories of.

Bandu: [gently] It's possible that something happened before you can remember, Bambari. Maybe your powers were taken from you somehow.

Bambari looks intrigued, but also a bit confused.

Bambari: [curiously] Taken? How could that happen?

Expunged: [speculatively] There are many possibilities. Sometimes, powerful entities or beings can take away abilities. It's rare, but not impossible. If that happened to you when you were very young, you might not remember it at all.

Bandu sits beside Bambari, placing a reassuring hand on her shoulder.

Bandu: [softly] Whatever happened, it doesn't change who you are, Bambari. Powers or no powers, you're still amazing.

Bambari smiles, feeling reassured by Bandu's words.

Bambari: [determined] Maybe I don't have powers like you, but I've learned to do a lot of things on my own. And I'll keep finding new ways to be strong. I won't let my lack of powers define who I am.

Expunged nods, admiring Bambari's resilience.

Expunged: [proudly] That's the spirit, Bambari. No matter what, we'll always be here to support you. And who knows? Maybe one day, we'll find out more about what happened.

The family spends the rest of the evening together, feeling closer than ever. Despite the mystery surrounding Bambari's lack of powers, they know that their bond and love for each other are the true sources of their strength.
