Ok so first of all I AM SO SORRY!!!!! I DID NOT MEAN TO BE GONE SO LONG!!!!! 😭 I got internet access taken away bc my dad found out I'm trans. I told him that I "got over it" so he didn't tell the rest of my family. Then for a little while I was able to get on wattpad but only in certain places and I couldn't write anything. But I am back FOR NOW! Imma try not to disappear again but it wasn't exactly my idea to disappear in the first place. TvT I will try to maybe update sooner than I used to so it might make up for it at least a little. Again I AM SO SORRY!!!!!!!! Also the amount of comments, votes, and general support I got even during the time I couldn't update was amazing and surprising! Yall are awesome and Im so glad you guys tolerate my ridiculousness enough to read this fic!

Nico sat on the couch surrounded by the annoying, insufferable family he was being forced to spend time with. They had dragged him out of the library saying that it wasn't good for him to spend all of his time in there. Bruce had stood by and watched it happen. There was a sort of smug glint in his eye. It was nice seeing someone else be dragged away from working on a project for a change.

Nico was now squished between Jason, who had also been forced to come, and Dick. Nico glared at the board game on the coffee table in front of them. He was winning but he wasn't happy about it.

The tv was playing the news and Damian was working on an art project from school. It was a peaceful atmosphere and despite Nico's unwillingness to be here he found himself relaxing. He couldn't quite forget about the problem he was facing though. He had asked Annabeth and Percy; he had asked Grover if he sensed anything unusual, and he had asked Chiron if he knew anything that could help but no one was able to give him a good explanation.

When a woman on the screen appeared introducing herself as Vicki Vale everyone tensed. Nico was on edge because everyone around him was on edge. The woman was grinning happily at the camera, but her smile had too many teeth in it to look real. "Hello, Vicki Vale here, bringing you the latest celebrity news," Nico cringed at her voice it was too cheerful and over the top. A picture of Nico and the other boys appeared on the screen. They were all together and laughing.

"The Wayne children have been seen just outside a popular mall with another boy. Has serial adopter Bruce Wayne struck again?" Bruce turned off the tv and sighed pinching the bridge of his nose. "I should've known something like this would happen, but I thought that we'd have more time."

Nico stared at the screen. There was a strange feeling bubbling up in his chest. One he couldn't quite name and one he didn't like. Was this what rich people dealt with all the time? Having their private life exposed to the whole world? This was horrible and Nico didn't like it one bit.

The horrid, plastic woman continued to smile and spout off ridiculous theories and thinly veiled insults on the tv before someone turned the tv off.

It was quiet for a moment. Nico was busy processing what had just happened. It wasn't like he didn't already know that the Wayne's were famous, his friends had made sure to catch him up with everything that had happened in the twentieth century, but he hadn't considered the fact that because Bruce had decided to take him in (temporarily) that this might be something that people would talk about.

Nico realized after a second of tense silence that everyone was staring at him. They were all worried. Nico hadn't experienced something like this before and he wasn't yet ready for people to know who he was. "Um, excuse me. What the actual fuck?" It did nothing to convey the emotions that Nico was currently feeling but it was the only thing he could think to say.

"This happens sometimes," Bruce started to explain. He switched from looking at Nico concerned to glaring at the back tv screen and back again. "Some reporters don't understand boundaries. They want to be the first to discover the next biggest scoop and don't care who they might hurt to get it. There are a few reporters who are more considerate. Vicki Vale is not one of them."
