It was ten minutes before the game between Barça and Athletic Bilbao and my hands were already shaking from the nerves of possibly seeing Marc on TV or, even worse, him actually playing. We both knew that was almost imposible but with football you never know. He texted me when he got to the dressing room
[Marc G] I want to see the TV picture you take when I check my phone again 😜
[Carla] Only happens if you get on TV 🙃
[Marc G] I'm too handsome to be ignored by the cameras
[Carla] Pfffft! bye

Of course his face was on the pre-game warm ups footage, they talked about him and it being first call up. His bestie, Hector Font, was there for his second call up but he hadn't made his debut either. I took a picture, just in case he didn't get on camera after.
The game started and my whole family was with me to watch the game. Dad and I both had Barcelona jerseys from past seasons. I was wearing the 20/21 season home one and Dad was wearing the 18/19 home jersey. My younger sister, Julia, and mom were less enthused about the game but decided to join in. I explained Martina's brother was that guy on the bench next to Lamine Yamal and Hector.
"He's kinda cute" said Julia about Marc  "if he plays as good as he looks I wanna wear his jersey"
"Julia!" I scolded. Boy crazy 15 year olds are dangerous. Mom and Dad just laughed.
The game went by pretty fast, and I did get that bench picture of him when they showed the kids on the bench reacting to a missed chance. Marc was holding his head in disbelief. He looked hilarious. As the game went on I was getting frustrating. Lots of missed chances but at least no goals conceded. And then I see Marc was warming up, as they showed him on TV. Could this really happen? I said to myself. And with 10 minutes to go until the game would end with a 0 - 0 score, my Mar's brother and now my friend, Marc, was about to go into the pitch and make his debut
"Oh my god, Dad! Look he's gonna go in! Martina is going to freak!!"
"Could you imagine her reaction if he scores?" said Dad
"Don't even say it! You'll jinx it!" I said while taking a picture on my phone of Marc on the TV talking to Xavi as Fermín walked to the sideline to get subbed
"He's so tall next to Xavi!" said Julia
"Cause he is tall" I responded "This is so amazing, I can't believe it!"
Marc got on the pitch and the camera focused on his backside with his name on his jersey, I took a picture of it and looked at it when I heard my dad say "Hostia!" I was quick to look up and all I saw was Marc running towards the ball that was set up for him, and he was running by himself with the ball leaving the defender behind to face Unai Simón all by himself and I screamed "PUT IT IN!" As I stood from the couch and I felt my sister do the same next to me gasping and Marc, my beautiful Marc, put the ball past Simón and scored. Marc scored!
We all screamed and jumped like crazy! Dad was shouting "GOL!" at the top of his lungs. I felt overwhelmed with happiness, I hugged Julia screaming "He did it!!" and she screamed "Oh my god!! I can't believe it!". He was just as euphoric on the pitch, screaming, fist pumping the air, getting hugs from his teammates who were all coming to hug him. I took out my phone and took a picture as he looked at the camera in front of him and screamed "Vamos!" .I had never felt so proud of another person in my life. The game went on and our Barcelona was in control. I took the chance to text Martina a picture of Marc on my TV with a "Congratulations Guiu fam, love you Mar!" We kept watching the game until the end. All eyes on Marc after the final whistle, all his teammates came to congratulate him and the next hour was all about Marc and his dream debut. Interviews and more interviews, Xavi's press conference talking about Marc, how the Guius reacted to his goal (they were all crying!), etc. I kept watching absolutely everything. Mom and Dad had gone to bed and Julia was with me and she asked "Is he really your friend, like, for real?"
"Yea. We texted just before the game" I responded
"Do you think you could ask him for a signed jersey for me?" she said with hope is her voice and wide eyes
"I can try"
"Oh, please do! He's so cool and cuuuuute"
"Oh, Julia, don't fangirl!" I laughed "I'll ask but I can't promise anything"
"Thank youuuu! I'll love you forever if you do" she said while she left looking for Marc videos on TikTok.
