So that you can know how much you helped me.

The Witch in Green Sneakers

She stands in the hallway

As voices rise and waves roll in

Does anyone else know

There is a demon hiding within

He sits in there, dark and feared

Whispering what she already knows

That the world is crashing; all her fault

And the demon slowly grows

The things she loves; taken away

By people in the halls

People she will never know

How can they take it all

There she stands, alone, confused

When a surprising thing arises

It's wild and strange, but unlike the rest

It doesn't bring demise

It smiles bright and shows the world

Things she wouldn't have dared to think

The way the world could work

And smears away the ink

"Who are you?" She asks, looking

as stars spin around

It smiles again, brighter this time

And laughs a pure clean sound

"I'm just like you." it responds.

"A girl with a demon and a pair of shoes.

But take a look back, and you will find

That demon is you.

It's not a monster to be feared,

Or a bug to squash down.

It's the most wonderful part of you

The part that gives you a crown.

Look around and ask how and why

Create something new

The world is full of magic

And a witch in that world is you."

Is a witch a bad thing, an old hag to fear

Or is it a fairy, heroes in tales of old

Its neither, it's girls who dare to be different

It's girls who dare to be bold.

So who are you,

where do you stand

Are you the one frightened

Or the one with a helping hand
